1. How do I check if I need to add more wood chips or pellets if the door shouldn't be opened during smoking, or is it ok to open the door for stuff like that?

2. Is it true Masterbuilt will send me a larger wood chip tray for my MES 30 if I ask for one?

I washed the door interior with soapy water, forgetting that only a damp cloth is to be used. I presasoned my smoker last night. Do I have to do it again?

Rick, evening.....   Add chips when it quits smoking.... I added about 1/4 cup at a time.... sometimes that amount would last about an hour max...  I never soaked my chips....  Spray oil the door and wipe off so there is a light coat during preheat and all should be OK.....  Dave

Thanls, Dave. I added wood chips whenever there wasn't any smoke before reading your reply. It worked great.

By oil, do you mean spray it with cooking oil? If so, what does the oil do?

To clean your window, damp paper towels and dip in some fine ash form your fireplace and start rubbing  on your glass to clean it it. Super easy and works every time.

Rick, evening...  the oil will bake on and form a "pellicle" like on a cast iron pan.....  A good general seasing technique....   And quicker than watching the smoke build up.....  Dave

Here's what's great about talking to guys who smoke. Dave, you never soak your wood chips while another guy always soaks them. I just have to experiment to see what works best for me.
