Well this is my second attempt at Prime Rib...My first attempt was ruined because I had to leave unexpectedly for work and was finished in the oven..It was a 6.7lb bone in...Well I smoked at around 225 w/Hickory/Cherry combo till 137..IT took 5 hours  pulled and wrapped in foil/put in cooler for a hour till everything else was ready..It came out great for my liking..but I had some friends over that weren't fans of pink meat..so i put there's on the grill for a few minutes,,it was a success!!

----Money shot! I would have pulled at 130 instead of 137 but I  had people over that did not like pink meat...I still had to put there's on the grill for a few minutes..But it was the best tasting Prime Rib they ever had!

Nice looking prime!

I cook mine to rare and heat a pan of au jus. Throw the slices in the simmering au jus to cook to med.

Looks great.  If they don't like med rare, you might need new friends?  LOL

As eman told you, the old au jus trick will fool most of them.  They will never know what hit them.

Good luck and good smoking.

Looks awesome! I feel your pain on having to "overcook" for the folks that don't like pink/red meat. I have to do it all the time.

Now that looks awesome. If that doesn't hook you on smoking then there isn't anything that will.

Mighty fine looking prime you did there.

OOH I can relate to the non pink meat group. My Brother n law refuses to eat my smoked turkey. Why is this you may ask, It's due to the fact the cure adds a pink tinge to the meat and he swears its raw

.........lmao. He brings a turkey breast and is only 1 that eats it. Went to there house 1 night for stake dinner and I had too cook my wife's and my stakes as he refused to cook and serve raw meat as he puts it I like my stakes RARE and my wife likes med rare.

The Well done people ruin a great peice of meat every time.  I have to kill a Prime Rib every year for christmas.  I was actually thinking of pulling early this year, and then grilling the folks that want it a little more well done.  Sounds like that works for most folks on here.

Looks great!

Those well done people frustrate me too.  Our daughter and son in law are like that.  All meat has to be burnt.  But... they eat raw sushi.

Christmas dinner will be a brisket.  Should make everyone happy.
