Hey guys, I'm going to be hosting a little work BBQ in a couple of weeks and was planning on smoking some pork butts for pulled pork sandwiches as the main event with some ribs, and other assorted sides for those that want them as well.  Ive had a few successful smokes but am still a relative newbie and have never done butts.  I'm estimating 25 or so people and was wondering how much meat I should have on had, and any other tips you guys wanna pass along.  I have read the sticky on pulled pork which i plan on using as my guide.  Thanks

If it was just pulled Pork, I would say about 10 pounds of Butt.

If it was just ribs, I'd say about 8 or 10 racks.

I don't know how to tell what the people would eat, but if you aren't afraid to have leftovers, I would think maybe 8 pounds of pulled Pork, and 6 racks of ribs.

We Are!

8-10 lbs. of cooked meat.... rule of thumb is approx. 1/4-1/3 lb. per person, per serving. So minimum would be 8 lbs. of finished product. You loose approx 40% of the pre-cooked weight, so if you start with two 8-10 lb. butts you will be fine.
