I have prepared and smoked with pecan some spare ribs that finally got a thumbs up from my wife and daughter's. I used Jeff's rub and sauce recipes. I am looking fforward to trying many more things. I really appreciate this forum and all the great ideas. What a tasty treat it is.

Hey Gary.

I've heard that oak is a popular wood in Texas, not sure if that's true or not. Someone recently told me to try red oak, that's one I haven't tried yet.

You heard correctly, oak is good. One of the BBQ joints right down the road from me only uses red oak. Has a great mild flavor. I use seasoned though. We have got some hickory and pecan we are waiting to fully season.
