Hi all,
Im on my 6th smoke on my brand new 18.5 wsm and i noticed that my water pan isnt shiny anymore. I always smoke with my water pan with water in it- although during my last 14 hour some i did almost run out of water before i had to refill it.

My water pan seems to have lost its "shine" on both sides and is no longer smooth. It also has a rust color in the inside (where the water goes). Is this the coating coming off?

Thanks!

It's fine. I doubt heat to the water pan will cause any damage. I would cover the water pan in foil going forward. Makes any cleanup a lot easier.

It is not rust coming off, it is baked on grease etc.

I don't think there is anything to worry about at all
