11 pound shoulder butt should I cut it in half?

Just bought a 11.7 pound pork shoulder butt and wondering if I should cut it in half so to smoke it in under 20 hours.. Also how can a shoulder also be a butt.. Think I should learn pig anatomy!!! Lol.. Let me know as my training wheels need a little adjusting.. Happy Smoking, Smokin - K
 
Butt is just a historical name for the upper shoulder.

To cut or not to cut?  How much sleep do you want to get?  Either way, I would wait a couple of hours before inserting the temp probe.

Personally I'd rather do 2  six pounders then one 12 pounder, cause I'd have a lot more bark!

Also they would be done in a reasonable time frame.
 
I was leaning torwards cutting it in half just due to the time factor.. Didn't even consider how much extra bark there would be. Brilliant! Thanks guys...
