"This is an excellent cooker, once you figure out t"
Pros - Heavy, holds the heat, pretty easy to tune, accessories are nice, customer service is superb!
Cons - Like lots of new things, it can benefit from a tune up and some practice.
I've had mine for more than 6 years and I really struggled through the first year with it getting too hot and burning up food. I was ready to give up and just use it as a charcoal grill. Then I bought an OKJ Longhorn and got on this forum and started looking at all the mods. The light went on. The reason I couldn't control the temp was air leaks. The Vision had burned up the gaskets early on and I didn't think about changing them. Anyway while I was doing mods on my OKJ I got some more felt and high temp RTV and went to town. After I sealed it back up it works better than the oven in the kitchen. You can control the heat within a few degrees. You can fill the bowl with fuel and it will burn for all nigh:yahoo:t Now I use it for everything unless it's a really big cook and I need more space. It's a great cooker for the money. Spend a little time getting to know it and seal things up tight!

Pros - Great temperature regulation, quality materials, incredible customer service, value.
Cons - Needs a new seal right out of the box. Finish isn't quite as nice as the BGE.
I purchased this smoker from Costco about 2 1/2 years ago.  Out of the box, it seemed to be of reasonable quality especially when considering the value.  It came with side tables as well as the nest.  I did spray the chrome stand with black matte grill paint and am very glad I did.  Right out of the box, the felt gasket was fouled up and there were chips in the exterior finish of the ceramic.  I registered the smoker online and noted these defects.  Two days later, I received a touch up kit with ceramic filler and the black paint as well as new gaskets for the upper and lower dome lids.  They also sent a replacement gasket for the lower intake - maybe I wasn't clear in my description, but it goes to show they went over what was needed to make sure I was happy.  I recently contacted customer service because my cast iron fire box grate has developed a crack and again, I had a replacement within two days. I have used this grill no less than two days a week since the day I purchased it.  Sometimes even more.  I've cooked anything from pizzas to butts and briskets.  The ability to maintain consistent temperature is pretty spectacular.  It can consistently maintain temps ranging from 200 on up to 600+.  Overall, an excellent value and highly recommended product.

Pros - Flavor intensity, ease of use
Cons - Burns too hot, specific parts cheaply made, two-tier rack is clumsy
I have had some issues with this BBQ that I never thought I would have had based on the cost and the research done prior to purchasing. The first grill I purchased was sent back as the front plate was welded on crooked and too much air was moving throughout the BBQ. I was told by the manufacturer that of the thousands of Kamoto Pro's sold only a handful were built poorly.

Now that I have my second Kamoto Pro, it works much better but still seems to burn too hot. Smoking isn't working for me since I can't get the heat down under 350 degrees. The bottom vents are set at 1/2 (right closed completely and left at 1/2) and the top vent is only open about a half (1/2 of 1).

I could use some helpful suggestions from those who have mastered the smoking piece. I have no problem searing or grilling but I also find with the same settings described above a steak will usually cook to medium well to well done in about 10 minutes. Even a thick steak is overdone when wanting to cook to a medium rare.

Could I be adding too many coals? Doesn't seem like I am since I only use a couple handfuls and only cover the holes in the bottom of the BBQ.

    Suggestions? I'm dying to smoke!

    "Very versatile little contraption"
Pros - heat retention, side shelves, ease of operation
    Cons - Heavy
I picked this Vision Grill up at Costco for $400 and it has been a game changer.  I've grilled burgers and steaks that have been juicier than anything I've had on a grill before.  Then when it comes to smoking meat, it performs just as admirably.  I have smoked pulled pork, brisket, chicken, whole turkeys, and vegetables with no problems.  It takes a little getting used to  but once you understand how to maintain temperature well and not to let it get too hot it's awesome!

The only downsides I would say are the weight, which is obvious since it's ceramic, but it does make it tough to move.  Also, the thermometer seems pretty cheap and is often off by 60-70 degrees from the digital thermometer I put in there.  It's not a problem since I use a secondary thermometer, but just something to be aware of.  One of the best things about this grill in my opinion is the lack of moving parts.  There's basically nothing to break!  And it comes with a great weather-resistant cover too!  I've had mine for about two years and it has exceeded my expectations.

    Pros - NONE
    Cons - everything!
I have been doing some research and comparing prices on several kamado style cookers for the last few weeks. I was going to buy the big green egg for myself when the tax return came in but recently I stumbled across this Vision grill at Sam's Club for a lot less money. So I started looking into the Vision grill line up and read up on all the fantastic reviews and said to myself WOW how could I possibly go wrong here! I have not seen one bad review yet... 5 stars out of 143 reviews! AMAZING  So...I go and buy this thing Friday morning before work. All I could think about during work was getting home and putting this monster together. Friday evening after work I get this thing started and it was actually pretty easy to assemble...so far so good. I take it out on the deck and find the right spot for it. I had bought a small bag 8 lbs of the Cowboy brand lump charcoal. I remember all the reviews said you'll have plenty left over because of the super efficient use of air flow to only burn the amount needed to maintain the desired temp. I really wasn't cooking anything yet as this was just a test to see how easy it would be to get to 225 and stay there. I lit the grill and things got rolling pretty good. I placed my digital probe on the upper grate so I could watch the temperature inside from the wireless remote. I opened all the vents and watched the temp climb right up. The first thing I noticed was the dial on the grill said 300 but he digital was reading 400!! I know it was on the grate but still 100 degree difference from a 6 or 8 inch space? But that's ok because I know they are not super accurate anyway hence the digital set up. The temp kept climbing and I started to get a little nervous so I started adjusting the vents to kill some of the airflow going in...this is where the problems start...I closed the bottom slide vent halfway closed and tried to do the same on the top vent/dial. The thing had welded itself shut and would not slide at all...I guess the metal expanded and it seized up. I took the cap off and brought it inside and loosened the screw thinking it was too tight...that helped in the kitchen but when it went back on the grill it seized again. I had to keep tapping it with a wooden handle to free it up. Now I have both vents CLOSED and what happens? the temp keeps rising! So obviously there is an air leak...but where? So I throw a few chunks of wood in to see where the smoke is escaping...after a few minutes the smoke is billowing out from under the top vent cap...this thing is closed and shut tight but the smoke is coming out from under the cap around the felt gasket...CRAPPY DESIGN 3 little metal tabs hold the cap in the hole but that thing is not sealed AT ALL!  BUT WAIT... if the vents are all closed tight why is there wood burning and creating smoke in this sealed contraption? still a major air leak... but where else could this be coming from? there are 2 vents and they are both closed...after closer inspection I see that the spring assisted hinges are so strong that it's trying to open the top of the grill while the lid is closed...ughhh I have to push down on the top to get it to seal...NOT COOL  So morning comes and I look to see if there was any unused charcoal...HA!! just a big pile of dust...not one sliver of charcoal out of the 8lb bag left. Ok...so I say to myself maybe I used way too much charcoal...so tonight 1/20/14 I put 2 handfuls of the same stuff BUT FROM A NEW BAG because this thing burnt up the whole bag the day before. I made a burger and a couple of hotdogs just to try this again...of course the vent welded itself shut again and this time while I was tapping it to get it open  a piece broke off the thumb tab thing... I'm sure I just got a bad one but GOOD GRIEF all of these problems on the same unit???... thermometer 100 degrees off...top vent does not seal around gasket...top vent welds itself together when hot...HUGE AIR LEAK due to spring loaded assist hinge trying to lift top up! I called customer service to see what they say but I got a voicemail and had to leave my number and I guess it was too late to call me back.  Is anyone else having any of these issues? EITHER WAY THIS PIECE OF CRAP IS GOING BACK !!!!  Steve in VA  Oh yeah...dinner was done and vents were closed at 8pm and this thing has been holding steady at 350 for 3 hours! LOL it should have snuffed itself out at 8:10pm

Pros - Ease of use, heat retention, efficiency, versatility Edit: Customer Service
    Cons - Weight
I received this as a gift and I love it. My wife bought it from Costco. I heated it up to 400 degrees for burgers and added a small chunk of apple wood for a little flavor. They were the most juicy burgers I have ever made. Barely any lump charcoal was used. I used a heat deflector and smoked a beer can chicken two days later. I had a few temperature spikes but nothing too bad. The chicken was extremely moist. That same night I threw a 9 pound Boston butt on for a party the next day.  The temperature varied a little, but again nothing major. I would recommend this grill to anyone.

Edit: On New Years Day January 1, 2014, I noticed that the thermometer was full of moisture so I sent an e-mail to Vision Grill Customer Service. On January 2, 2014 I received a reply e-mail from Customer Service apologizing for the thermometer. They said they contacted the warehouse and a new thermometer should ship in a few days. On January 3rd, I received a shipping e-mail from them. The thermometer was on the way. Vision Grill stands by their products and they have great Customer Service. I can't say enough great things about Vision Grill!

I bought this smoker early in the summer of 2013 (about 7 months ago) for about $400, and have used it more than 20 times.  Overall, the quality and workmanship are good.  The grill was packed in the heaviest cardboard I have ever seen and all parts fit together well, no problems with assembly other that the thing is really heavy.  The only issue that I have with the unit is that the bottom vent did not close tightly and it took quite some time to but the charcoal out.  I was able to remedy the problem easily by bending the sliding door to conform more closely to the shape of the grill.

As has been said before, as with all Kamados, the Visions is miserly with charcoal and holds heat very well.  So far I have been able to hold temps as low as 200 and as high as about 750.  There is some concern with burnt gaskets, but so far they are holding.  I replaced the ones on my Green Egg with Nomax after I let it run over 850, and have enough left over if I need it for the Visions.  (the process is pretty simple)

I like the two level cooking grates and that both of them are hinged.  This gives a lot more cooking area and allows access to the food on the first level and the coals underneath.  The configuration does not allow the addition of additional smoking wood when a heat deflector is in place but, this is an issue with all Kamado grills other than the very large oval units.

After I bought this unit I picked up a heavy duty pizza stone and the Kamado Joe heat deflector (it just looked a bit more versatile than the one by Visions).

I have the medium Green Egg, and got this unit because I frequently need more space and was happy with the way the Kamados cook.  I also have a New Braumsfeld Black Diamond and a Webber gas grill, neither of which get much use anymore.

I am hoping that this will last a lifetime, unless i drop it.

"Low and Slow or hot and fast, it's the Boss"
Pros - excellent customer service , great griller, great smoker, fuel miser, holds temps
Cons - just don't drop it
getting at a Costco sale for 400 is a steal. there were some issue with the a little paint chip and they sent me a repair kit out quickly and offered to send me a new stand. i fixed the stand myself but that is the only inferior part of this deal.

now onto the good part. this thing is a cooking machine. only you can make good food but having a great tool makes it easier.

Smoking: once dialed into the temp, it will hold it forever or at least hold 225 for 16 hrs. no reloading lump, no fuss no worries.

Grilling: can get over 600 deg no problem to sear food.

    pizza oven: makes outstanding pizza

hybrid cooking, for thing like chicken, this is a beast! i can put some chicken on at 250 for 2 hrs then open it up a get it HOT to crisp the skin. now bacon wrapped items and skin on come out perfect. Armadillo eggs, fatties etc.

you do make your own heat defector or buy an accessory if you want indirect cooking.  there are some cool looking after market grills and racks etc for these types of grills.

the results of all of this are outstanding tasting food. the smell of it cooking is unlike any other grill I have cooked on ( 35yr of grilling, 4 smoking). it will drive you crazy with anticipation

they claim that food will be moister and they are right. you can let that chicken cook at 350-400 and get it well done and it's still juicy.

i get an outstanding smoke ring on briskets. picture perfect. overall if you a swiss army knife of a grill, this is it. i so enamored with it, I may get another for bigger cook outs.

"Why spend $1200 for a similar BGE? this has ALL SS"
Pros - KAMADO for a reasonable price! cheap to grill. The LUMP coal burns cleaner and longer VS charcoal.
    Cons - NONE
I sold my Oklahoma Joe offset smoker for this guy. NO regrets!!! I'm saving money every time I smoke something. I poured a 8 pound bag of Lump coal and had the temp dialed in at 230. I held that temp for 13.5 hours until the brisket was done. I then shut the dampers and checked removed the indirect plate to take a look at the coals. I was very surprised to see that I still had almost half of my coals left! That's pretty cool! I was used to dumping a 20 pound bag of regular charcoal in my offset and still had to add more for the same smoke. I am so impressed with this grill/smoker I tell everyone. Simple to set up and cheap to grill. I did go with an Kamado Joe Offset plate though, i thought the Visions looked a little cheap.
