Cons - Heat control. Wants to run hot.
I am new to smoking but I find this unit is very east to use. The only draw back is that the unit wants to run to the hot side. I used it on a really windy day and produced some exellent pulled pork.

Used it on a windy rainy day to smoke some baby backs....outstanding!

The unit was well packed. It was easy to assemble. I like the rotary starter. Just purchased an internal digital thermometer because the external thermometer is not reliable.

Pros - Heavey Metal, Sturdy Legs, large Somkw Pan Price
Cons - Non So Far, Just got it 12/22/11
Just testing it out. I am new to smoking. Good  for small family, 3 racks, large water pan, heavy metal,  3 vents two on side one on top. Wood chip pan holds 1/2 of 3 pound coffee can of wet chips. .Still trying to figure best setting for temp gauge and vents.  Will buy a inside smoker  thermometer. Temp ranges  between 230 and 260 degrees. Just smoked Pork Ribs using 3-2-1  method and  tasted  great. Can hold 4 slabs of ribs.

You come on kind of strong malibu. I have the package in front of me and it specifically says "1 to 60 psi". If you are a propane expert or "guru" then I will take your comment as advice. If you are not, then please tone down a bit, it brings out the Marine in me. I thought the purpose of this forum was to answer questions and help to find solutions?

I tried the adjustable regulator today. DO NOT do this! Nearly blew the door off the unit. Went back to the old regulator to do my pork butt. Not worth the trouble or expense.

Jort, I bought an adjustable propane regulator. The device allows you to control pressure from 0 to 60 psi. It is supposed to control the flame by controlling the gas pressure. I am doing a beer butt chicken tomorrow and I'm going to give the regulator a workout. Will advise you on how it works.

I just did a search for adjusting propane regulator on smoker and found out that if you pop off the plastic cover, under it is an adjusting screw (clockwise=more pressure & counterclockwise=less pressure). My concern is that too little pressure might make the unit run at lower temps but it might not give a reliable flame and you could get a gas buildup inside! I am going to talk to my propane man and get some ideas. I will let you know what he says.
