Pros - Lightweight, easy to use, simple design
Cons - Uninsulated box gets too cold during winter..., Kind of fragile design which could get dented very easily.
Bought a lightly used model from a guy and have used the smoker about 6 times.   Does a good job but if you desire a more permanent type of smoker chose something more durable.  The electric heating element does not throw out much heat but it does a good job for what it is built to do.  Not a bad little smoker for occasional use.  Has a few racks to hold enough meat for your family.  Not made for the "serious" smoker crowd though.  I think that it would be great for cold smoking things!

    Just my two cents,

Pros - Simple to use, no moving parts, holds a sufficient amount
    Cons - none so far
Well, it was delivered at 12noon and here it is 357pm and I have a load of jerky going already. I had prepared the beef ahead of time in anticipation of it's arrival. It's been about 25 years since i made jerky, and then it was in a bullet type charcoal smoker, kind of a mess to work with for me. My friend has had a Little Chief for years and I trust him, so I foowed suite. Glad I did.

Pros - Simple to use, Good overall temp stability
Cons - Have to lift the whole front panel to get to food
This was my first smoker and what  learned to smoke on. I didnt know what to expect from it since my dad ha always used an el cheapo brinkman charcoal smoker. Was given this by a friends dad who said he never use it anymore and Im always looking for new cooking toys so I took it with no hesitation. Glad I did too as it was a great little smoker. It smoked everything from brisket to leg of lamb to salmon perfectly every time. Didnt hold a whole brisket just a flat cut but it was more than adequate for my needs at the time. Temps stayed consistent unless it was a really cold day. Id get another for fish and cold smoking in a heart beat.

It's been awhile since I made jerky, about 25 years. I burnt my jerky to a crispy little piece of meat. The taste is there, if you don't mind eating charcoal. I'm going to try again today and hope I do some better.

Yep! That was my first too. It did everything and still does as I cut it down to fit the motorhome. I didn't want to lay it over so removed the top, cut 3 " off, reattached the top and it now fits neatly in one of my compartments. It's neat to catch and smoke trout on site, then share it with your fellow campers. Here is a link to the latest download page. It has been updated with the use of "cure" and more recipes.

Yes, what a great little smoker! I still have mine from 20 years ago, it did allot of salmon and jerky over the years.
