    Pros - Cheap works
Cons - Needs to be baby sat
I have read plenty of negative comments about this smoker and nearly all comments refer comparing it to the WSM.

OK the WSM is one of the best out there - but this smoker can do just a good, it just needs a little baby sitting which I think is the best part of smoking.

Its cheap ($50) and for that you will be smoking

You'll certainly learn a lot more about smoking on this model than others, so I think its a perfect "starter smoker"

    Enjoy !

    "Horrible!"
    Pros - Cheap
    Cons - Just about everything!
I received this smoker as a gift form my mother in law (bless her). The lid doesn't fit properly so all the smoke and heat comes out of it. It doesn't come with a good thermostat reading, it just says warm, ideal and hot. It is hard work to get the temp up to a good heat.

She gave me this to learn to smoke but it is hard to use for a beginner.

Hi. I'm a nubbie to this forum.  Any tip or tricks you can give me about smoking would be appreciated.. I have the Brinkman Smoke-n-Grill.  Bought it a Wal-mart for 47 dollareos

I agree. the lid DOES NOT tight on the top of the smoker

I have had two similar water smokers and love them for the most part.  As you said, wind and cold weather makes it difficult to use.  I have had some great grilled and smoked meat as well.

I've had this Brinkman for about 10 years, smoked hundreds of pounds of turkeys, pork butts, and chickens on this beast. Temp is a little tricky to maintain, especially in cold and windy conditions, still does a great job for the price.

Yes it is tough for the beginner. But after the mods and some practice, you can turn out some great BBQ

My only smoker and whilst i concede it was a little tricky to use at first, especially with zero experience, a couple of modifications and i generally get excellent results from it.

There's lots of quick fixes but from a airflow point of view, and without having to do any hardcore mods; drill some holes in the coal tray, hack an old grill to raise the coals a little and (especially for the longer smokes) tinfoil around the rim!

Just finished some smoked steelhead on my ECB.

Marinaded it in a mix of about 1/4 cup light soy, 1/4 cup real maple syrup, and 1 tsp dry mustard powder for about 4 hrs. Cooked at about 220 for 45 min. Wish I knew how to put a photo in here but it is not working.

    That's a good ideal Hammer1

Keep at it and go to the ECB forum in here to look at the modifications that folks do to this unit. It makes a big difference and most are easy to do.

It's a 47 dollar smoker. For a poor man or a person that has no DiY skills it's not a bad deal.

I just got my first good grill smoker 2 weeks ago. A Fast Eddy PG 500. I think I have about 1700 into it all together with the few addons I ordered.

I had been using  a horizontal barrel type. Had it for many years, I just never used it very much.
I didn't know pallet grilling and smoking was some much fun. I grill and smoke all the time now it seems.
There's nothing wrong with the old way. I was just ready to try something different.
