Pros - High temps easy, stable temperature, smokes, grills does everything you want it to.
Cons - High initial cost and portability. Lots of pricey eggcessories you will want.
Its everything everyone says it is, makes it easy to seem like you have been using it forever, it just cranks out good food even with a few mistakes by its commander now and then
Pros - Temp Control, ease of use, great high end temps, size, accessories
Cons - cost
Believe the hype. The Big Green Egg is the best smoker I have ever used, the best grill I have ever used, and it's awesome as an oven too. It uses an insanely small amount of charcoal. The temp control is just amazing. I went to bed with a ham on at 221, and woke up 8 hours later with the temp at 225. That is amazing. I love my Big Green Egg.
Pros - Easy to be a great cook with the BGE!
Cons - Accessories are expensive!
The BGE is the bomb! Before getting it, I had never had a smoker and had never smoked any type of meat. First try was 2 chickens and they were off the chain! Have cooked chickens, turkey breasts, steaks and all have turned out wonderful! Easy learning curve on how to control temperature. My problem is deciding what recipe to use next! It can grill @ high temp and cook for hours @ low temps. Be sure to get the plate deflector so you can cook by indirect heat. Unless something BETTER than a BGE comes out, this is my grill/smoker for as long as I can see!

Cons - Lack of accessories included with the egg.
I absolutely love this thing. I actually own the extra large model. Put it like this, I own a commercial 6FT stainless steel magic-cater grill and the only thing I use it for is to keep whatever I am done cooking on my egg warm and to hold my egg tools. I have done overnight smokes (brisket's, pulled pork, 28LB turkey!). It held the temperature no problem. This thing is hands down the best money I have ever spent!!
Pros - The total package
I received this as a Christmas gift and this is truly the gift that keeps on giving! The BGE can smoke, girill, bake, cook anything and everything to perfection.
Pros - Stable temps, low use of fuel, versatile, quality

Hard to do anything bad with this. It slow cooks like a champ. I have added the BBQ Guru device that adds a fan to the fuel box, one thermal probe to the grill and one to the meat. Tell the digital controller what temp you want to maintain, what temp you want your meat to reach and it will shut down. No more sleepless nights cooking butts and briskets for me - my butts in bed.
Pros - Slow cook/smoke or 600Plus degree searing.
Cons - Rack needs be closer to the top for normal grilling. EXPENSIVE!
With the grill grate actually sitting about 3 inches down from the top lip of the base of the grill; it can get extremely hot when turning steaks ... Use a BBQ mit or you may singe some hair on your fingers and forearms even when using long tongs.
Boston butt or a ribeye steak can be cooked to perfection with little effort.
Short learning curve for understanding how to control the temperature like with any new grill or smoker.
Thus far all grilling and smoking has been a pleasant success and delicious results.
This thing is heavy, but all smoker/grills of this type are.
I will not give it a total 5 star rating because the price is not a selling point because it is EXPENSIVE!
