Mama B and I are expecting another cub! The two we have now are super excited and are hoping for a baby brother! We'll have to wait a little while longer to see!

    Smoked pulled pork chili

With the cooler fall temps it was time for a big ol pot of chili. I had a couple pounds of pulled pork left over so I thought, why not? Let me tell ya, the smoky aroma was enough to make me drool the whole time it was simmering. Here's what I used: 1 lb. Smoked pulled pork 2 med. yellow...

Does anyone here own one of these?

Saw this at the local Sam's Club. Looks like a good deal at $279, thought I'd ask if they were any good first. It's a Smoke Hollow 40" LP fired beast of a smoker. I drooled a little when I looked at it.

    Masterbuilt 20070210 30" Analog mods

Has anyone modified one of these with an external chip loader? How can I do it without sacrificing heat/smoke? I thought about cutting a hole in the side and installing a chute of sorts with a door. Any tips/suggestions?

    My first butt

I had a "picnic cut" shoulder to smoke and my mother in law asked me to smoke a butt, so I decided to do them both at the same time. I hadn't attempted to do a any shoulders sections yet so I, once again, relied on my smoking friends here for advice. It turned out spectacular! Thank you all for...

One of the best purchases you can make...

One piece of advice that I always give to my buddies when they ask about smoking is to purchase a good digital, probe thermometer. I bought one that cost me around $25 at Lowe's. It is remote, wireless, and easy to use. I haven't had an issue with over/under cooking anything since I purchased...

    Getting rust off cast iron

I was recently given a nice, fairly large good 'ol heavy cast iron skillet that some one had neglected to take care of. It has some rust, no pitting, just surface rust I believe. Can I just use steel wool to get the rust off then re-season it?

Charcoal and wood vs. my MES 30

Hey all! So I got hooked on smoking with my MES 30, but I have more frequently been using my Kingsford charcoal grill. I find that I get more enjoyment out of being more hands on with the finesse it takes to build and control the fire and smoke. I had read about the "thin blue smoke" but truly...

    Pork Shoulder "picnic cut"

The local Meijer had these on sale for $.99/lb. last week, so I bought a 9 lb hunk. Do I pretty much follow the same method as I would doing a "pork butt"? I'm looking to make a batch of delicious smokey pulled pork. Should I trim the fat layer off or leave all of it on top and put my rub on the...

Going to attempt smoking a ham...

Well, I got volunteered by my lovely wife to smoke the ham for Easter dinner next Sunday. Should I go with a resmoke or go with a virgin ham?

Just bought a Master Forge remote thermometer

I had a Lowe's gift card so I thought I'd get a wireless thermometer. All I had been using until now was a plain ol meat thermometer. The only one I could fine was a Master Forge brand, (sorry, don't have the model number handy). I used it last night on a test run with some burgers in the MES...

    Wife's birthday dinner

I brined a yard bird in white wine, brown sugar and salt overnight. Smoked with apple wood at 225-250 for 2-2.5 hours. It had a very nice light sweet taste and peeled right from the bone! I also made some stuffed jalepeno ABTs, wrapped in bacon, and the no boil mac n cheese that someone on...

    Sweet corn on the cob

    My first smoked turkey

It turned out great! The juiciest turkey I've ever eaten! I cut up an onion and an apple and put it inside. I cut up a stick of butter and put the pats up under the skin.

SMF is going to be the death of me!

Since I've joined the forum, I can't stay away from it! lol. My mouth waters all day long, just waiting to get home and cook something. I love that there is more here than just smoking. I don't know that there is a more useful site anywhere on the internet! My wife has finally quit rolling her...

Ol beer in the rear chicken

I am going to wrap a chicken in bacon and give it the ol beer in the rear treatment. I have a couple questions, 1. Will this work good in the smoker or should I use my charcoal grill? 2. What is the best beer to use (for cooking, )?
