    Hello Fellow Michiganders

Another thing that sets this off (imho) is the love that is obvious between the cinnamon in the Chinese 5 Spice and the apple butter syrup ;)

    Hello Fellow Michiganders

Well, it's been a while since I have been around the forum but not away from my smokers. Here is last night's Q that I did for my daughters 'Honor Society President's List' party. The Weber to my right is where I am grilling the Chorizo Sausage, the Brinkman Trailmaster LE behind me is where...

    2014 Michigan Get Together ( July 19 2014 )

Hmmm... Maybe I could smoke a Pork Belly Friday night and make breakfast burritos with it on Saturday morning. How many people are you expecting to be there Friday night? If I do that I may only bring my MES unless an additional stick burner is needed. Also thinking of doing some of my famous...

    2014 Michigan Get Together ( July 19 2014 )

SWEET. Can't wait. It's my busy season now but I will do everything in my powers to keep the BBQ on my calendar. My customers would have to pay a righteous premium to get that date away from me hahahaha One last Q, will there be power there for my MES? If not, no biggie, I'll just bring the...

Disappointed with amount of smoke; bought a master built electric 40" added updated part sent by mas

Due to the inconsistencies of my MES 40 gen2 I elected to bypass all their electronics and installed an Auberin Thermocouple Based Smoker Controller. Then for the perfect smoke I purchased an A-MAZE-N-PELLET-SMOKER 5X8, resulting in the most accurate "Set and Forget" known to mankind :D hahahaha

MES 40 Gen II - Temperature issues GONE!

I see you too have some pretty hard winters over there on the other side of the big lake. I am just glad for this forum as this is where I read about using the Auber. As for the price of the PID, I've ruined more money's worth of meat than the controller cost so i'm confident my ROI will be...

    Am I a Total Whacko?!?!?! -- Frankensmoker

I guess the other part of this Frankensmoker idea is the fact that my inefficient baffle system still allows for a 15-20 degree variation from end to end on my current stick burner. I was hoping to kill two chickens with one beer can by making it a vertical smoker instead of the typical...

    Am I a Total Whacko?!?!?! -- Frankensmoker

I have not. By the nature of them being welding blankets, are they fireproof?

    Am I a Total Whacko?!?!?! -- Frankensmoker

In Michigan winters play havoc with trying to keep stable temps on my stick burner. I have been contemplating making an insulated firebox and connecting it to my old MES 40 Gen I, thus making it into a vertical smoker. My thoughts are that the MES is insulated and may help to keep my temps more...
