Yup, another one (updated, with pics)

The exhaust has a damper, so I will try closing it up a bit.   The pipes are my extended air intakes. I origanally had only one extended 3/4" and it seemed like I had air flow problems. I added the second and made it 1" and it seemed to work better. I am going to try closing the exhaust damper...

I have one 3" exhaust, two 3/4" and one 1" intake. I have found that it is hard to keep the fire going if I want my temps under 250. She runs well in the 260-275 range.

I started it up today, again, to do another season/test. The temps ran allot better this time around. I had some un-expected company show up so I popped all the intakes open and did up some burgers, dogs and some chedderwurst. I tell you what, they came out great with a bit of hickory smoke...

This is version 1.1.2. After a test run last night, I realized I couldn't get enough air flow through the estended 3/4 pipe. I already painted it so I couldn't return the parts for 1". So, I made another 1" throttle with stuff I had on hand. Also I put some casters I had on the bottom, and added...

Here it is. It's getting a season right now. Just trying to get a feel for it before i throw any meat on it. The stack and the lid handle are from my "retired" Brinkmann.

It's almost done. I loaded up the basket with about 10 lbs and let her rip. Got the temps up to 600*F+ to try and burn it out. It's a new drum, so I figured I didn't need a great big fire in it. I ended up scaming alot of parts from my offset because the UDS is going to replace it. I didn't go...

I just picked up an open head drum with a lid, brand new for free! I've looked around alot and gotten some ideas, but I have a question. What size should the exhaust be? I wanna make this thing look cool, and was gonna do dual stacks like a big rig. I was going to use 2" exhaust pipe and weld...

    Cheap, easy door seal

I used fiberglass rope gasket to seal up my SNP smoke chamber. I used high temp silicon to stick it on. You can buy this rope in 25 foot lengths from your local FW Webb or Bell Simons or any HVAC supply house. I am an HVAC/R tech by trade, so I had a bunch on hand.

    Going to build a UDS

Thanks fellas, I think I'm gonna order up that Uniflame rig from Wally World.

    another UDS is born!

Meateater, do you ever use the bottom rack above the water pan? If you do, how does it work. I want to build mine so I can do a few 3-4 pound chickens, but I have a closed head drum. Edit: I'm gonna get the Uniflame rig from Walmart and scam sthe parts out of it.

    Going to build a UDS

Ok, I have done alot of reading on UDS builds here. The one thing I have not come across is what can you do if you have a closed head drum and don't have a dome lid? Also, how many racks do you guy's put in and aprox. distance apart from the basket and each other?

    Hello

Hello all, My name is Mikey. I'm in Waterville, Maine. I have been checking this site out for a couple days and figured I would join in. I use a Brinkmann Smoke N Pit setup for reverse flow. I've had it for about a year, and have done quite a few smokes on it, mostly baby backs. I am looking to...
