Hey all,
The venison came out alright.
I rubbed it down with some brisket rub before i put the pan in the smoker.
It took about 1.5 hours to reach 150 degrees.
I tried it but, I guess I'm just not a fan of the meat.
Took it to my sister in law. She said it was the best venison...
Hey guys,
Thanks for the suggestions. After thawing out the venison i found it was cut into chunks.
I went ahead and marinated it in some oil and steak rub (salt,pepper,garlic,onion..ect).
I was thinking of tossing the whole thing in a aluminum pan and throwing the whole thing...
Hey all,
My brother just brought me a venison tenderloin to toss on the smoke.
I know from reading that the meat is very lean. I don't have any bacon to wrap it with and was wondering if a simple injection might help keep it moist and if so what kind of injection should i look at...
Hey all,
My wife was also giving me funny looks when i snatched up her camera to take pics of my latest smoke. Being new here, I myself thought it was kind of funny.
Your analogy with the models is actually spot on. Another hobby of mine is RC aircraft. All of the forums i visit...
Thanks Guys,
Really appreciate all the comments and views.
I will be sure to keep the Q-view rolling in when my my next smoke happens.
By the way, All that food did not last even part of the day. There wasn't a scrap of leftovers at all.
Thanks again,
Chris
+1 on the lump charcoal.
I tried kingsford briquettes today and there was just way to much ash.
The fire slowly started to choke itself out. I had to pull out my basket and dump the ash mid smoke. I then reloaded with Royal Oak Lump.
Everything was great from that point forward.
Hey all,
Thanks for all the kind words.
I really have picked up so much from SMF. I don't think the results would have been the same without you all here.
Thanks,
Chris
Hello all,
As some of you may have read in the roll call section, I received a brinkmann vertical for Christmas.
I did my first smoke christmas day and i turned out so well i could not wait to try it again.
Yesterday, I went to the store and came out with a brisket flat and a rack of...
I finally have access to the camera so i thought i would post a pic.
Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of the process. Just the end result.
Enjoy
Chris
Thanks for the warm welcome all.
Im sure i will be spending plenty of time here.
As far as pics, unfortunately I don't have any. The camera is gone with the wife.
I did get around to pulling everything and it was a big hit with the family.
Chris
Hello everyone. My wife got me a smoker for christmas. A brinkman vertical. I was able to get it a week early to allow me to season it so i could do my first real cook on it. So today, christmas day, I woke up early and fired it up and proceeded to smoke two small pork shoulders. They hit 200 in...
