Grinding Pepper with a blender, Pics

3000 lbs is quite a lot of dry peppers! Thanks for the pictures. I use a blender but never thought about the blender heating up the powder. How much of a difference in taste would the blender heating up the powder make? Oh, and welcome to SMF!

    Smoking to a powder

If you are using a water pan or if there is much meat in there giving off moisture, you may need to dehydrate them after smoking. I did up a couple of pounds of hatch chile in the smoker last year, then I dehydrated them. After that I popped them in my blendtec blender that will make a powder...

    Got Ice Cream?

I got my box of chile today in Rancho Cucamunga. I was planning on going to La Habra next week, but my inlaws are planning a big camping trip, so I wouldn't be able to go.  We showed up at 8:30, there were no carts available and the line for roasting literally went around the store. All of the...

    Got Ice Cream?

I just got my local albertsons ad today and in addition to Rich's post above the following date and location is given: August 21st 1800 W. Whittier Blvd., La Habra, 90631, (562) 697-6442 And that would be the closest location to me. Do they have multiple levels of heat? or they all hot?  I...

    Birthday Prime Rib

Here are the string of pictures for Q-view. I didn't have enough time to finish it in the smoker. after 2 hours at 275 the internal temp was only 90 degrees, We had company coming over, so I took it out, sliced it, and finished it on the grill.  It tasted great, the smoke flavor was just right...

    Birthday Prime Rib

Thanks for the birthday wishes, The reason why I want to do it at a high temperature is because I don't get home from church until about 2:30 today, and would like to have dinner at 5:00.  So If it is in the smoker to rare for 2 hours, then rest for 30 minutes should be about right. I would do...

    Birthday Prime Rib

Today I plan on smoking a 7# prime rib for my birthday.  I'm thinking just salt and pepper, smoking till 130 internal at 275. About how long will it take to get to that temperature? I'm thinking using apple wood for the smoke in my MES. Any suggestions? I've never done one before, never smoked...

    Plant Peppers in Pots?

I live in southern california, so we never get a frost that kills the plants off. Before I ripped out the plants a month ago, we still had tabasco peppers and cayenne peppers still producing. The plants were a bit scraggly though. You can keep them longer, but if you want a lot of production...

    Pepper and onion fatty

Today I made my second fatty. My first one I used turkey bacon and it ended up way too salty and crunchy. So this time I used low sodium pork bacon for the wrap and turkey sausage for the roll. The final result was about right on the salt content, but the bacon wasn't very crispy. I started the...

    MES under the patio...

If you get plenty of ventilation, open a window or door or something, then I see no problem with that. My MES is under an overhang outside and it never gives me a problem.

    Hickory with Black Spots!

Do the black spots look or smell like mold? do they scrape off easily, or are they deeper? Can you get some pictures posted of it? Depending on what it is it could be harmless. I have never had any of my wood get spotted.. but I live in dry southern kalifornia. Hope they are still usable.
