    Finally ordered my AMNPS

    Got mine last week!  I just gutted an old, dead MES30 which will now become my cold smoker.    Not sure what to do first.... any suggestions? Also, where is a good place to get the pink curing salt needed on the cheap.  Is there any stuff that is nitrate free out there? Thanks!

    Anyone come across a good cold smoking cookbook? I know Jeff touches on it briefly in his book but cold smoking books seem to be few and far between.  Im a bit old fashioned sometimes and prefer a book in hand instead of printed papers from the 'net.  Any recommendations are much appreciated...

    Cool to see all the Smokers & Brewers!   Started brewing 1.5 years ago with 2 other guys from work.     I've always put beer in my pan instead of water.  Cant go wrong there!  And sometimes (when in season) I snip off twigs of fresh herbs and throw in it as well.  Happy smoking!

    Over New Years weekend, my Dad was in town and he checked the dead smoker with an ohm meter but was unable to find a problem with the element or any shorts in the wiring. He believes the problem lies in the little electronic part on the very bottom of the unit which cant be replaced.  oh well...

    Thanks Dave. I do have an ohm meter and will try that next week. My old man is coming in for XMAS and he's good with that kind of stuff.  Too bad we arent neighbors. I gotta whole fridge in the garage dedicated to craft beer "storage". :)  We fix it or have fun tryin'... lol

    Thanks, but I have tried that with the same result.  I live in a brand new house as well so all the outlets are new and shouldnt do that anyway.  It appears to be the element.
