I went with some high temp food grade silicone gasket maker. Used in smoker fabrication, I felt it would do a good job of sealing the element and also the electrical box which I reversed in my mod. all I need to do is find a ring terminal for the ground and I am ready to put the back on and cut...
I have it part done. I lost the small gasket for the element so will need to order some high temp RTV silicone gasket. used the short wiring in the kit. I considered going with new 12 gauge wiring but high temp spade terminals are hard to find.
well wife just got home and darn if this isn't the triangle divided pellet smoker. good deal at $25. I will just use dust for cold smoking and pellets for everything else. Just don't know which I need to use to smoke this bacon. I have seen cold for bacon and warm for bacon. I am heating to 175...
The local dealer said he couldn't sell the AMNS. He thought it was because sawdust was hard to find vs pellets. So he dumped it for $25 + tax. $5 cheaper than Amazon. I noted that the local store sells hickory chips that is more dust than chip. More of dust and shreds. Little time with the...
MES 40" electric here:
Can the AMNS burn fine cut chips vs fine dust? I am curing bacon and forgot to order the AMNPS. Got to smoke it today if at all possible. I found the AMNS old inventory locally and the vendor wants to dump it since no one wants it (hard to find sawdust). All the locals...
I am doing my first hams from a young prolapsed hog I processed Friday. Back legs are 15# each. I wonder is it would be better to separate them into butt and shank? More manageable and makes more sense for meals.
My plans for my brine (per 1 gal distilled water):
1 cup pickling salt (to make...
Picked up a young 150# prolapsed pig Friday for $30. It was younger so not as much fat on him as a mature hog. Got 92# out of it. l already processed and froze the loins into chops and roast, ribs, tenderloins.
Will chunk the front shoulders (13.5# ea) for future grinding into pork sausage. But...
Lots of links in the threads for 12 ga. wiring but I have not found a source for heavy duty high temp flags. I did find high temp flags online but none of them heavy duty except for manufacturer sites.
Note in the comments in the amazon link that many of these high temp terminals are still...
Time also varies by the amount of butts in the smoker as well as meat variability. I have had butts go quick and also have had butts go 16 hrs when I had it packed for a big job. Some were done early, a couple just liked the sauna I guess. When I have a lot of butts I like to rotate the racks...
Old thread but wondered how it worked out. Also, my initial thoughts were that perhaps this is why they only have 10 members left. They need to refocus on what the role of the church and church body is.
MES 40-I once did 9 large butts for a paid gig (graduation party) . Had no more room on the racks (3/rack). These were standard smoker size so not tiny. I rotated my racks periodically. Towards end I removed some that were done but the last of them took all of 16 hrs to smoke.
I am guessing it...
I once did 18 picnics for a customer and it took 24 hrs.
Keep in mind it always taste better the next day ;)
Each meat is different and the stall varies.
Well I have had a good run these 6 yrs but last night the screen started not reading all the dashes on the digital screen unless I pushed on it. Mine is 6-7 yr old model with screen on back top.
Anyone have this issue and had luck disassembling the screen and cleaning it? Maybe moisture? it...
