    first shoulder

Thanks for the positive reviews. Wish I could, but I can't take credit for the kitchen aid idea. I read it, of all places, here on SMF. Couldn't find the old thread. Can't wait for the next one.

    first shoulder

Here was Sundays meal. I woke up a little later then I wanted to thanks to a night of drinking and folk music. Did get to hear Steve Earl though and that was the reason I went. 7# shoulder rubbed with a basic Carolina BBQ and mustard. Sprayed with Captain Morgan and apple juice...

    Fridge life span

Thanks. Guess maybe I will just cook both. Give me a chance to experiment with two differant methods. Will try differant rubs, finishing sauces, and sprays. Maybe I will do a Capt morgan one and a Beam one. I don't like the idea of freezing , but also don't get to go grocery shopping that...

Great info, but neither is frozen yet. I have heard a brisket will last weeks in the fridge cryo wrapped. Wondering if the shoulder will last the same.

    Fridge life span

Bought two picinics last night. Plan on doing one Sunday. Wondering how long I have for the other in the fridge. Don't want to freeze but will if it won't last too long. Maybe I should do both and freeze cooked extra in bags and reheat in boiled water. Let me know what you folks think. Thanks

    Corn for smoking

How do you guys and gals dry your corn cobs for smoking? Had some smoked corn on the cob last weekend and I broke them up and left by the sunny window. Was still damp days later. Finally put in the oven at 220 for 40 minutes and they dried out. When I opened the oven door it smelled very...

    Better late then never

To make the soup I just threw in half a dozen potatos, some frozen mixed vegis(broccoli and carrots), celery salt, salt and pepper. Didn't have any corn or else that would be in there. Half a cup of half and half, half cup of milk, and half cup of flour. I will take a pic when I defrost but...

    Fast Cucumber Salad W/Qview

Grandpa's cucs, onions, and ranch. Just dropped off some from the garden to him on Sunday with the request for some. They don't cook too much these days but figured it was a good one for them. Dropped off a piece of smoke brisket while I was there.

    Taboo Questions

I was at a party a few years ago and had some kilbasa that was really good. Was grilled with a really tastey glaze on it. I talked with fellow party guest who had made it and complimented him. I asked how he made it and he immediatly got defensive and said there is no way he was going to...

    Thanks but......

The thought was there. Makes me think about putting a pad lock on the smoker. Anyone who counts how many drinks I have had is not welcome. I believe they would get their @$$ kicked around my place for that. Have to make allowances for family I guess.

    Probably already asked and answered

Once you brine poultry you will probably do it everytime. You can use the brining time to add flavor also. Time in brine depends on size of bird and how strong a brine mixture you make. Usually I brine over night and rinse and cook the bird the next day. You can brine in advance, rinse, and...
