I am also new to smoking I have a gosm (great outdoors propane smoker) with no mods. I have done two smokes on it and they have turned out pretty good. its not hard to maintain temp. pretty easy to operate starting out. Hope this helps!

Great looking Smoke Capt. I just pulled my first chuck roast off bout 20 min. ago letting it rest a while before pulling. It took almost 12 hrs. I got mine out of the freezer from the side of beef we bought last fall. Saw your posts and was thinking about doing them anyway so I gave it a try...
you wouldn't have run it when you got it came already ready to go, but you should have gotten a disc with the computer, It is probably mostly silver with the windows logo in a hologram on the top of it. THat is your startup or 'system' disc. Hope this helps good Luck!!

Is it safe to stack different types of meat(beef, pork, chicken) vertically of each other while being smoked? Will the drippings of one cause adverse affects to the meat below in taste or unsanitary condition?
