All the cooks in my family have a small crock for bacon grease. Might be about 5" high or so. I don't think any of us put them in the fridge. None of use strainers either, hell there's a lot of flavor your chunking out if ya do. Hasn't killed anyone yet.
Just wanted to throw a plug in for some guys from my old stompin' grounds. I can remember back when they were about seven years old or so singing with their dad and his band at the Triple R Ranch in south east Ohio back in the 70's. Gees, that makes me feel old
They have won tons of awards and...
Sorry if I ruffled some fur, just expressing an opinion. This is a great site, I just wish this were fixed. Thats the only negative thing I could say about the site as a whole. This is a great place to meet folks and gain knowledge and I appreciate Jeff and all the mods who make it possible.I'm...
Well now, thats an idea for a sticky.
So if a new person finds this site they will have to first register, then change settings before they can view anything more than stickys on the only page they will be able to see?
Again, I really like this site and the folks here, but this is an easy fix...
Looks like I miss counted, only nine more stickys before the page is full. Sorry I didn't re check before I posted, though one more either way isn't much of a difference.
All we need are nine more stickys and the General Discussion area of the forum will be full. There is only one page, not sure why multiple pages aren't available ( hint, hint ) I really like this site, but lets get real here. How can a person view or reply to a post thats older than one day if...
Spraying a tree with chemicals only serves to keep bugs off the outside of the tree. It does not penetrate the bark and is applied only for the leaves and buds. It is effective for a certain number of days, period. Pressure treating forces chemicals deep within the open wood grain that can...
If the price fits your budget and you want it, then buy it. Then build a huge fire and get that thing rockin' as hot as you can. After it cools, scrape off any residue that remains inside and wash it out, then do it all over again. The chemicals used in treated lumber are carcinogenic (they...
There are many free image host sites out there. Imageshack, Photocave, and the one you mention, Photobucket to name a few.
If you were asked for personally identifiable info and a credit card, it's possible that you clicked on the wrong link and it guided you to a premium membership sign up...
Sorry MotorHedd, guess I should have included a disclosure that covers me for liability claims
Thanks gobbledot. I'm using an old antique Stevens Model 311 and averaging about 70%. But those things are real shy now and coming in like a stinger missle so my average will probably drop...
Thanks all, it was just a thought that past through my mind while waiting on the next set of birds to come through. I did make a few with plain ol' water to cut the maple and no brown sugar and I liked them better but try any variation and see what you think.
Had a thought today while dove hunting and put it to the test. This may not be new to some folks, but it was new to me and tasty too.
Dove breast
Rib Rub
Bacon
Brown Sugar
Maple Syrup
Apple Juice
Beer
Start with well cleaned dove breast and sprinkle with your favorite rib rub.
Cover and place...
Now thats an idea Ron, keep us posted as to the results you get. Wish I could find BB's for that price, last I checked at the local store up here they was running $3.99LB. A real store is 70 miles round trip minimum so the local guy is killing us
What temp? Well unless your going to put a probe in each one how would ya know anyway, lol.
Actually I would suggest you place them in a pot and put on low boil until they are almost cooked. What you add to the pot for flavor would be your choice. After that, move to the grill and brown, then...
The different variations submitted were fantastic. I thought all the fatties entered deserved a fork, blowouts taste fine to me . As for most creative I would have to say the poker fattie has my vote. BBQG was very close behind with her selection of ingredients and it was a tough decision, but...
I have put dry rubs on meat and let it sit all night in the fridge, then vac sealed for the freezer and months later it was great. Not sure the sealing helped the flavor though since the rub had plenty of time to work before it was sealed. I'll agree that short term flavor penetration would be...
