    Hot plate help

I use chunks and a 6" cast iron fry pan. I find the largest piece in the bag and place that in the pan and fill around it with anything smaller. I also preheat the pan before I place my wood in it. Once the larger piece starts I can usually take the pan off the hot plate and it will continue on...

    Any other riders on here?

Been riding since I was little. First road bike 73 CB350 then 79 ironhead xlh, 00 xlh and now the Triumph. Been on this one since 01. A CB360 is waiting patiently in the corner of the garage for the cafe conversion!

Why Not A Convection Smoker ???

http://www.yieldking.net/ This unit works quite well, turns out some good stuff. Granted it is electric, not natural heat! The fan blades are in the chamber and the motor is outside away from heat and grease.

    Emergency ? !!!!

Cheapo red lines at 190, trying to measure 212. The digital measures within a degree after two minutes and it loses. I'll chalk that up to "cub logic" Maybe that was bait..... zing....yup, hooked and reeling me in!! Either way, it is tough to mess up pulled pork.

    refridgerator smoker

My only question would be; Did you heatsink your SSR? Running two hotplates will be a fair amount of power. It looks like the same setup that I am running. I used the same gray box and had the SSR switching power to an outlet. Who makes the control? Omega, Eurotherm.... Looks nice.

    Thermostat?

Ebay has cheap controls, like this one; item# 350043988574 $41 shipped. One nice thing is the 85 to 265VAC power supply, if you are running 240V heaters just tap off that power coming in to supply the control. No need to step down the power or run a separate cord just for control power. If I...

    gym locker smoker

I have seen a smoker made out of a 3 drawer file cabinet. The smoke chamber was the bottom drawer. Interesting to say the least, locker would be cool also.

    Ranking Sausage

For every commercial sausage/link the words "greasy" and "fat" should be added to the name. Like "Greasy Fat Spicy Kilbasa", if you can choke down a piece you get a layer crud smothering your interior of the mouth. Yummy!!! I'll stick with my own and most meat markets in the area. Say No to...

    Minnesota smokers...LOOK at this

I've been looking at the Char-griller $90+$50 smoke box at menard's this week. I'm about 2.5 hours from New Hope and would have roughly $90 in the buying and picking up this one up. Granted I don't know what the grates look like. Damn it........
