i have read that it takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours at 275deg or 4 hours at 220deg and both said 160* internal temp.
can someone clear this up or is it 9 of one or 3/4 of a dozen of the other

I think a brisket is easier than a butt.
just try one! do all your prep the night before, let it get to room temp before it goes in.
keep your temp to 220 to 230 deg F.
It will take around 12 to 14 hours to get it to an internal temp of 160.
