I have about 13lbs of pork shoulder. They are in 4 separate pieces, do I base the 1.5 hours/pound on the total weight or individual weight. I hope this is not a stupid question.

I did a search for this and could not find anything in particular for it.
I was thinking about drilling a series of 1/4" to 3/8" holes in the charcoal box where the coals sit. Would this be a good idea or should I leave it alone. I am not sure how to manage the ash control.

Brisket - 10 hours
Beef Ribs - 6 ish hours?
so here is my planned schedule:
0600ish start the coals
0700ish put the brisket in.
noonish put the ribs in.
will this schedule work?
Is this ok to use for smoke?
I am getting some Oak to try out with the Brisket and Beef ribs this weekend. I have the opportunity to try out some Pinon if it is ok to use.
