    Diffuser?

How many of you all use a diffuser?  I have done 2 smokes on my UDS; spares which came out ok; not as tender as I would have liked and some of the tips were hards; but I did have some fire mngmt issues and I do a no-foil smoke for about 6 hours.  I did 2 pork butts last weekend and the flavor...

    Is this Barrel safe?

Finally found 2 barrels.  The guy told me they are food grade safe drums with the lid attached.  They had a food grade sanitizer in them.  He said it was basically rubbing alcohold and would get burned up on your first time under fire.  Now, the lids are attached so I would have to cut them...

Char-Griller Smokin Pro with firebox- Mods

Do any of you use a wind break? I need one but not sure what I should use to make one.  Fought the wind a little bit and had to wheel the firebox side of the grill into the garage.  Is the rule of thumb to keep the firebox out of direct wind; so if the wind is going directly into the firebox, I...

    RTV Melted!

Mine did the same thing too.  I'm not too concerned about it.  I have a little smoke loss coming out near the right hinge but I dont really notice it that much.  The stuff i have is rated 500 deg, but I think the surface of the sfb can get hotter than that.  I might sand and reapply.

Char-Griller Smokin Pro with firebox- Mods

What I ended up doing was carefully bending the lip with some pliers.  So now it is actually flush to bottom of the barrel (or a nice seal) but I have no problem opening/closing the lid; nothing is rubbing against the lid and barrel.  I'm digging this somker and the mods were easy.  I did do the...

Char-Griller Smokin Pro with firebox- Mods

Well I got most of my mods done.  Will update my thread tonight.  I did a seasoning run on friday night and was ok with the temps; about -7 deg difference right to left.  I'll take it.  I then cooked some abts, fatty & a chicken Saturday and I noticed I lost a lot of smoke out the back of the...

OK My MODS for the Char Griller SP (so far)

So far anyways.  Got the hard part done the wheels so now gonna work on turning my charcoal tray into a baffle/tuning plate.  Thanks to Phil Lee and his pdf tutorial.  Following it step by step.  Need to find some good thermos and a gromet as well.  But I have pre-drilled everything so far; just...
