This looks very good. I love the mods you did. You are a talented person that we can learn from. I never thought of using Rootbeer on my "Butts". I will have to try this. I have one suggestion that you might try. Instead of putting the thermometer in the lid, drill a hole about 1/2 inch below...
In my experience when I only have green wood ,I just cook it down to coals and then add it to the fire. That is the only way you get the creosote out of the smoke. But it is always best to have a dry ,seasoned wood for smoking. When the coals are right you probably can't see any smoke at all...
I have the same smoker. I use an 8" cast iron skillet on my fire. I found to help with flare ups just put some foil over the chips to seal the pan then I take my knife and just poke two holes in the foil. You are limiting the amount of air so there is no combustion in the wood chips. That little...
Welcome to the SMF! I live in Augusta,Ga. and travel to Columbia,SC about twice a week doing my job. My son races at the I-20 Speedway in Batesburg with his Super Street race car. Good to have you aboard.
Welcome all of ya'll to the SMF! Where 'bouts in upstate SC are you. I live in Augusta,Ga. and about 10 miles from SC. I love BBQ Hash and have several recipes for it.Some are like Brunswick Stew except without the corn, beans, and okra.
Welcome,Norm from another Georgia boy! I am from Augusta,Ga and I also have a ECB Electric among 15 other smokers to choose from. If you have any problems with that smoker I will be glad to give you some tips on it.
Jeannie, you should have your own cooking show. I would record it and look at it a hundred times. This is another fine meal you have blessed us with. Thanks for sharing.
Darrin, that looks mighty good there. Not being critical of the cooking method, but it looks like you direct grilled it by looking at the coals. Did you shift all the coals to both sides of the meat for indirect smoking? Just my observation,I know you know what you are doing.
I also have not tried fig wood, but it can't hurt to try it on something cheap or a small smoke . Now I have done the figs in the BBQ sauce and it is delicious!
About that Webber lid. Mine didn't fit either. I put the lip on a hard surface and lightly tapped it with a hammer to shape it " out ". Don't take all of the bend out, but it works for me. Just a thought for ya.
