Ok, so I found a pretty good deal on the original RecTeq bags. 25/bag, so I bought 4 bags until I can find Lumberjack here in Colorado. I've got a couple of stores (Big R, and TSC ) fairly nearby. I'll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks for the input guys.
So, I've just burned through the 400 lbs of recteq pellets (before they switched to Kingsford). Looking to buy more, but not a bag or two here and there. Wanting to have a good mix (stored in stackable containers) that I can add to the hopper, depending on what I'm cooking. I have the "Bull"...
Or a small generator. I've got two eu3000i hondas and a cheap 1000 watt champion. The champion, I think, is enough to power it. But if I need to I can always fire up one of the honda's. I know I get a LONG run time out of them on eco mode and low load.
I've had a GOSM in the past. It's a large cabinet propane smoker. It served me very well for over 15 years. Might add this type of smoker to your consideration. Mine had 4 racks that could fit a large brisket each. I cooked everything from pork bellies (cold smoke) to brisket and pork...
I would think the grill grates would heat up much quicker than the SS grates in the Rec Tec, and a LOT faster than the cast iron. The surface area alone is much much dense with just a few holes. I do know, it reflects a LOT of heat back into the body of the gas grill. I'm going to keep...
Hiya folks,
When I bought my Rec Tec Bull, I opted for 3, interlocking Grill Grates that they recommend for searing. I figured what the hell. So I've tried them on the Rec Tec. Ran the pit temp up to about 475, put a couple ribeyes on, and was very dissappointed in the overall function. I...
Well, that didn't go as planned. Excellent product, pork was incredible. Darn kids started shredding it before I could get pictures. Did a fatty and then ABT's on Sunday. Whole family is asking what/when I'm smoking next, so I guess it was a success. Oh, I did bacon on it too. Wife said...
Wow, interesting to see this...
I'm back again. Wife passed away, GOSM got destroyed in a storm, New wife (and two boys in the deal), and a new Rec Tec RT-700 is on it's way. Good to see this forum is still very much alive and kicking!
Anyone done this, have suggestions? Mine is starting to see some weather damage and I'd like to proactively fix any problems before they start.
Do I need to take it down to bare metal? Prime it? High heat paint? I'm not a painter and the best I've ever done is krylon stuff, so any...
