I see a big bunch of people here (used to) and maybe still do , own some of the old Pre Landmann , Great Outdoor Smokey Mountain Propane smokers and a few had owned the coveted Stainless Steel models. Even the Wide or Big Block SS models were floating around.
I recently found a guy by me that has an old Stainless Steel model but I'm not sure yet if it's the thick wall insulated one or a regular.. This guy showed me some pics and I told him I would see what info is here about it.. I can't remember what the water pan and chip box on his looked like or if he had a 16 or 24 inch wide model.. His has a cover and the 3 big round vents .. I will see if he can do the measurements for me .
I do think his is like a pre 2006 model before they went to Landmann ..

One thing I couldn't find here was a pic of the DOUBLE WALLED MODEL STAINLESS STEEL. I know they were sold for $300 to $400 and from Sam's club or Bass Pro .. The later stainless from wherever we're thin ones and the Big Blocks that were stainless I think also were thin walls..
I did see some reviews and info here by Tulsa Jeff and Sqwib that was helpful. This guys stainless GOSM was mint looking in his pic . I might try and get the thing if they don't want to use it. They found it cleaning out a garage or something.
Just wondered if anyone has a pic of the old thick or heavy duty insulated SS model here to check out. Or if they know if that would have the old small chip box and smaller water pan with that model..

Thanks for looking .
Johnny B.

I will look at his pics again and probably be able to tell now that I studied the things.. lol

Lol.. I'm going to try and teach this guy or talk him through all the little mods if any he may need to know.... without having done them myself . Little tricks to get the temps steady with wind blocking.. Or turning vents away from the wind.. lowering the wood box if it's not smoldering chunks good.. Or using another box for wood.
Needle valves and regulating flow for lower temps.. Using water pan or not.. see if it has a drip pan and drip rails .. Or if he needs foil..
Door seals and checking for leaks. Using digital thermometer..
I kinda need to know more of his model and see the size he has really before I can say much to him.. I will help him out so he doesn't get frustrated.. Try and get him or his son to get on here also..

But, I may get that smoker if it is the DOUBLE wall heavy one and he doesn't use it.. haha..

If it's a pre Landmann stainless 16 inch I probably won't bother buying it off them.

I hear ya,I walked away from a smoke hollow electric the other day.Should have taken measurements to see if it would fit in one of my fireplaces.Be nice to smoke in January with ease!

I've got a stainless GOSM that my wife bought for me from Costco, probably 15-20 years ago. It's not double walled though.
