    Black Ribs?

Ron50, I say the ribs tasted fine, probably because I didn't know any better, and because that is what other poeple said about them. Nobody ever said they were great, but everyone agreed they were OK. I know I had a creosote problem because I went from having an orange flame on my propane...

    Black Ribs?

Bassman, I have had ribs turn out black, and I thought they tasted OK, but it was creosote on the ribs. I have read where people say if you have creosote it will be very bitter, but that has not been my experience. I guess it must be the amount of creosote present. My ribs tasted OK, but I...

Daredevil Evel Knievel dies at 69

Bummer......He was a hero to many of us. On the bright side, I saw him speaking on a show giving his testimony on how he had recently became a Christian. Maybe he will finally make that Grand Canyon jump!!!

    Creosote problem?

In an effort to be safer, I had screwed an elbow into the end of the burner and ran a 12 inch piece of pipe out the bottom of the smoker. I then screwed on another elbow and hooked the line that came with the burner on there. I was trying to keep the original rubber line out of the smoker...

    Creosote problem?

SmokyOkie, I don't have access to natural gas, and all the literature says it is a propane burner. It was just a turkey fryer kit I bought at Wal-Mart.

    Creosote problem?

So the reason my mixture adjuster doesn't change the flame, nor does opening the door change it, is because the burner is now too sooty? Makes sense I guess. I will put the burner on the outside somehow, clean everything as best I can and start over. THANKS everyone!!!!

    Creosote problem?

My homemade smoker is basically a huge steel cabinet that I set a turkey fryer in. I put a cast iron skillet over the burner and set a coffee can in the skillet to burn wood chunks or chips. The flame I get is orange and comes up clear around the skillet, and the skillet gets black stuff all...

    Instead of a smoke pistol.....

The pictures show the air going into the bottom, but one has the outlet on top, while the other is on the bottom. I am wondering what the difference is?

    Instead of a smoke pistol.....

I tried a smoke pistol for the first time last weekend. I could not get it to work like I thought it should. It stinks having to open the door every 5 minutes to see if it's working, especially when it isn't! The aquarium pump thing is interesting though......I was thinking about some way to...
