    Brined, butterflied, whole chicken.

Thank-you kindly. But wtih an Electric El-Cheapo Brinkman, The only factor I can control is time. I'll insert the probe in a couple of hours. I started drooling while it was still in the brine...

    Brined, butterflied, whole chicken.

Has any one done one on an EECB? How long for a five pounder? I will, of course, finish it with a thermometer. So I'm just looking for a ballpark...

CHUCKZILLA! Coincidentally, I've got my first chuck in the smoker right now. Happy Mother's Day, Ya'll!

The first thing that came to mind was Himalayan salt blocks. So I bet it's used for thermal regulation. Like a water pan, only different. But then, it doesn't seem like enough to make much of a difference. Maybe it's for smoking salt?

    legs and thighs onte ecb

Great job! I love my EECB. The only thing I do different is I prefer the quarters. Less turnin' that way.

    What gage of extension cord.

As others have said, bigger is better and shorter is better. Best is not to use one at all if possible. But if you have to, hold the cord where it plugs into the outlet, if it gets warm to the touch, keep an eye on it. If it gets noticably hot = big red flag! "DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!"

Now we need a good teriyaki sauce for chicken wings?

I haven't had any complaints. And as a matter of fact, I used it yesterday to smoke two batches of wings. Try this one, too! Just add it to a bowl with your wings and fridge for an hour or more: Sweet, sticky, spicy, southwestern sauce. A sauce I developed for baby-back ribs, it also goes...

Picked up a Brinkmann Gourmet for $20-what should I make?

Once in awhile, it gets into the teens. Usually it hovers right around freezing. And hey. Before I bought my electric ECB, I was lusting for a gas smoker... I was told you can't control the temperature with propane at my altitude. But again, no complaints here.

Picked up a Brinkmann Gourmet for $20-what should I make?

Once in awhile, it dips into the teens, but it averages right around freezing. The nastiest part is the wind. But I bet it doesn't compare to MN. True?

Picked up a Brinkmann Gourmet for $20-what should I make?

Congrats! Smoke whatever's on sale. I've had mine since August last year and use it every other weekend. When it got too cold to smoke outside, and suffering from Q-withdrawals, I tried it once in the garage next to a window with a box fan in it. Never going outside again! You can imagine how...

    Electric Smoker Modifications

Since new, I started putting the chips in a 1-pound coffee can. Position the can so it makes maximum contact with the element. Cleanup involves dumping the ashes in a trash can. The only caveat is the can will *probably* have a plastic label or paint that should be removed (or else ... YUCK!). I...

    Hi. My name is Steve.

Gosh, Folks! Thanks for the all the warm welcomes. I knew I'd like this group. I've never met anyone pationate about cooking that had a malevolent bone in his or her body. Responses to a couple of individuals: Eric: I can't recall seeing an Acurite with an overbraided probe. If you have a...
