    ABT's with Turkey bacon

I haven't tried turkey bacon on abt's yet, but I have been known to cook some up for sunday breakfast. It's really not that bad. I can't seem to get it as crispy as real bacon though. If the doc says it, and the family's behind it, it's best to just do it. (*Disclaimer - my wife's nearby, so I...

How important is it to soak wood prior to smoking? and why?

I occasionally soak wood chips, mostly just because. Not sure if it really helps anything. When using chunks, I never soak.

I need some guidance on my first smoking voyage

    1. A lot of smoke could create creosote. You definitely don't want that. TBS, or thin blue smoke is what you're after. If you can barely see it, but you can smell smoke, you're doing it right. 2. How much wood to use is a tougher one. It depends on how "smokey" you like you're meat. I use both...

    Breakfast Fatty question

Breakfast fatties are my favorites. I typically use scrambled eggs, hash browns and cheddar cheese. I cook the hash browns according to the pkg directions, and scramble the eggs as if i was going to sit down and eat them right then. The last one I did, I used the breakfast mix hash browns. The...

Is Sam's Club Membarship Worth It? Here's My Recent Experience

For us it's been totally worth it. We just got a statement from Sam's recently showing us our savings. They compare what you bought and how much, on average the same quantity would have cost you at a chain supermarket. If i remember correctly, our savings was just over $1000, and we just joined...

    apple chunks

Apple is quickly becoming my favorite smoke. I love it on ribs! Even some relatives that claim to not like smoked foods will eat it up when smoked with apple. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

    SnP Mods

Finally got around to doing some mods on the SnP my step-father gave to me. It's always been pretty consistent temp wise, but I think these mods may make it even better. Here it is before... And with the new baffle... Made from 16ga steel, with a series of 15 5/8" holes. No welding on this...

    Good drum for UDS

I found a steel drum available that was used to hold bio-diesel. I haven't seen it yet, but assume (I know...) it doesn't have a liner, and that with a good hot burn, and some pressure washing it should be fine for a UDS? My question is on the lid. It has the open top, spring lever locking lid...
