when i say baste i mean a concoction ive come up with made of cider vineger,bourbon,water.molasses,and various spices that i baste the meat with about every hour or so for the last 5 hours or so. thanks for the replys guys!!!

my parents have an old 200 plus gallon fuel tank that had gas in it but has been empty for some time. I know the dangers of cutting into it and all but before they scrap it i thought id ask. If at all posible this thing would make a perfect smoker
brisket was a sucess, cut it in half prior to putting on smoker. was only going to do the bigger half ,then decided to do both with different seasonings. would have gotten back sooner but my company showed up last night and didnt have power this morn.
just pulled it off at 170 and wrapped in foil and put back on,5 1/2 hours to hit 170 sounds quik to me but i cut it in half. took some pics but ill get it when finished too .. am i on the right track here?
mine is on the non wheeled side! do your self a big favor and check out the mods section for this smoker. I recently did almost all the mods posted and have been smoking for close to 2 1/2 hrs. almost effortlessly..before i was always having to jack with it to keep the temps ok.
should i be smoking this thing in foil or just put in foil and wrip in towels to put in cooler to reach 200-205.what temp should i pull it off the smoker? Its at 116 now
