I make tri-tip OFTEN. Love it. I've settled on super low smoke temp (~200) until IT of ~120. Then sear both sides crispy. Thicker end at med-rare and the thinner side closer to med-well, it's a win for all!
I find the sirloin to be one of the beefiest tasting steaks available. I love, love...
Wow. Thanks for those wild-ass assumptions and poor comparisons, little Fokker.
I've cooked on Traegers and Camp Chefs...I like the CCs, but I felt the RT was clearly better and all American made. But I guess I wouldn't know. MAK ($3200 for RT-700 equiv.) and Yoders ($2139 for equiv) are...
1. Better warranty
2. Made in USA
3. Heavier gage, better materials, beefier construction
4. PID controller (mine holds dead nuts temp. Traegers are all over ±30°)
5. Call for info...an American answers the phone and doesn't transfer you anywhere. No buttons - a friendly human
6. I'm not...
It's "Honeysuckle" brand from Aldis. Likely the Costco equivalent. It's whole, with bones and 8.4 lbs. Says it's been "basted" in up to 15% solution. Sounds like the same description as on a Butterball brine.
Would you recommend and injection for a whole breast or just a brine? What are your thoughts on seasoning?
First time on a whole turkey breast. Does have the 'insurance' of fat content like a pork shoulder or brisket. Thanks all!
Between Rectec and CookinPellets, what do you folks think?
I'm almost out of my 200# of Rectec pellets from when I bought my Stampede. I think they're working good, but I really have nothing to compare them to.
Yeah, I'm sure that's a good pellet but I've been leaning toward 100% of the wood. So apple needs to be 100% apple. Hickory, etc. I use Amazen right now and their apple/mesquite are 100% of that wood. Those tend to be more pricey.
At the end, I'm thinking, there's this awesome BBQ right...
If you were in a typically 50-80 degree environment on the RecTec 590 Stampede, what do you expect your pellet burn rate to be if maintaining say....230°?
Thinking of buying but If I'm burning $20 in pellets for a shoulder, I may think twice. Thanks all!
