Little help on a reverse flow conversion

Ok I had a friend who took my old cheap academy smoker and made a reverse flow out of it. My question is do you think it's important to put a couple of thermeters around grate level. If so do you think I could JB weld a couple of pipe fittings to the outside to attach the thermeters. I don't...

    160ish gallon RF smoker #1 of 4

Thanks duck killer 1. I went back and looked at the pictures again and I see where you left a 4.5 inch gap at the end where drain pipe is. That makes since to me now. I have a home build that my cousin did for me and I'm going to have it changed to a reverse flow. Thanks for the information and...

Can anyone give me some good inkectio advice for brisket

On the inject I use 2 cups of beef broth with a packet of au-ju sauce. If you can find the au-ju in a liquid form then 1 cup beef broth to 1 cup au-ju. Also you can fry some bacon and pour a little of the grease in there. Works for me. Rick

    160ish gallon RF smoker #1 of 4

Thanks for the pictures and the thread. Not trying to hijack your thread but when you put in the baffle plate in and run it all the way to the other end how does the smoke get up to the meat. It looks like it would be cut off and the fire would have a hard time drawing air. Never built one but...

    My smoker

This smoker was built by my cousin who at the time was a welder. He passed away from a heart attack 5 years ago. He built it for a guy who never came and got it and I bought it from his wife when he passed. I have a lot of questions, because it was his first and I have always cooked on a green...

    Hello from Arkansas

OK, I am new to BBQ. My cousin who now is deceased built a smoker for a guy who never paid him. When he died I bought it and moved it over to my dad's home. I bought it mostly to help my cousin(his wife) with the bills and keep something he had built. I have been experimenting a little with it...
