    Too much smoke from AMNPS

Masterbuilt MB20071117 Digital Electric Smoker, 30 inch, Black. Maybe I had it too full before. The pic below is my second try right now... This one burning much slower (I did not microwave the pellets like I did the first batch.)

    Too much smoke from AMNPS

Yes, it seems like the whole tray caught fire. All the pellets were black but not burning when I opened it. (Bear, yes it's 5x8 tray). I onlly had the wood tube 1-2 inches out. I guess that was too much air, and that's why it caught fire??

    Too much smoke with AMNPS?

Good call. All of the pellets were blacked... seems like they caught fire and then died out? I assume that means there was too much air coming in via the woodchip tube? I only had it out about 1-2 inches. Close it all the way?? (I reloaded the tray and starting fresh now...) Thanks guys!

    Too much smoke with AMNPS?

(My apologies for cross posting this... ) I am on my inaugural smoke with an AMNPS. Using a MES30. Tray lit fine and using pellets. Tray is on top of the inverted water pan, on left side, not over elements. I have the top wide open, and the smoke tub only about 1 inch out. I started with nice...

    Wood Chunks at Menards Finally

I bought a bag of each a while back. These are pretty good, but more like chips rather than chunks. Some very tiny pieces are in the bag.

A butt, some flames, and pork tonight!

[sorry the late update...crazy work week]... Bottom line, the butt was very tasty. Details: It was only 180 after 11 hours and I had to get to the poker game. So I stuck it in a 350 oven and zoom! It got to 195 pronto! I wrapped it and took it in a cooler as you guys said. After 1.5 hours...

    Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse

I did Illini's mods this past weekend. All went well for the most part: The vent went fine, but I'm still sourcing the stack/pipe part. I looked at drain pipe for a sink (chrome, 1.5 or 1.25 inch), but neither fit right on the 1" nipple I used. It a stack even necessary? Right now, I'm just...

A butt, some flames, and pork tonight!

'Morning gents: It's my third running with my Masterbuilt electric. I did Illini's mods this past weekend. (See my post with pics under Illini's "Mods that work...") I promised my poker buddies pulled pork tonight so I got a 6 pound butt, preped it last night and was up at 5:00 am to get it...

    Waterpan in Masterbuilt??

I'm a newbie. Got a Masterbuilt Electric for Xmas. Have not yet made "illini mods" to it, but can already see the need. Question: Do I always fill the waterpan, no matter what I'm cooking? I did some ABT's and a stuffed chicken roll Friday night for my poker guys. Flaor was good, but both...

    A new (wood) smoker fan

Many years ago, I was a charcoal purist. I've had Webers and other variations. But once we had children (read, TIME CONSUMERS), I switched to propane. It's safer around the kids (quick on and off) and allows me to come home at 6:00, fire up the grill, cook, and get back to the family. I'm...

    A new (wood) smoker fan

My in-laws just got me a Masterbuilt Electric (digital but not the 2007 model). I've already seasoned it and I have a Maverick thermometer coming via UPS tomorrow. I'll be trying some ABT's tomorrow for my poker group. And probably a pork butt Sunday for the family. I'm a decent griller - gas...
