    Calling all Smoke Hollow owners!

Well, Smoke hollow has screwed up a decent smoker. My wife bought me the new model Smoke Hollow 44" Pro Series from Sam's Club as a surprise. We had been looking at the previous model for a while and liked the way it looked. The reviews on it were very good, so we decided that was going to be...

Masterbuilt Extra Wide - Cookin' with Gas

Pars, Thank you for the reply. I went over to our local Bass Pro to look at one in person (only a 10 minute drive, which makes it nice). You're right, it is quite large. Just what I want. I don't smoke very often, but when I do, I like to fill them up. Think I'll pick one up and give it a try.

    Brinkman Smoke N Pit

I don't believe that to be the case at all. It may take a little longer to get the temps up to target because there is more metal to heat, but once there, they actually help to keep the temps up due the extra mass (especially if you have to open the door), as well as helping distribute the heat...

That may be your problem. Mine has a hard time getting up to temp if it's very windy. Usually makes a big difference if you can shield it from the wind.

Masterbuilt Extra Wide - Cookin' with Gas

I would be interested to know how that smoker is working out. Have you used it yet? Reason I ask, is because Bass Pro Shop has it on sale for $179 and I'm really considering getting one. Anybody that can give me any info on it? I read all the reviews on Bass Pro's site, but they don't have the...

What NOT to use - Cowboy Lump

I'm a little late to the party here, but maybe I can help. I'm over here in C.B., if you haven't checked yet, you should look at Sam's Club. They usually carry Frontier Brand, which I have been using the last couple of years and I really like it. Lately they have also been carrying Best of the...

Lump vs Briq's in long smokes

I really like the Frontier also. If you have a Sam's Club in your area, they usually carry it, at least ours does. They carry it in the forty pound bags for about $15.

Giving Brisket Flat a try again... Q-View

Thanks. I used lump charcoal for my heat source, but I only used about five or six pieces of wood chunks for smoke. Once those were burned up, I didn't use anymore smoking wood. However, I believe that using lump charcoal tends to add to the smoke ring on its own. Don't know if that's true, just...

Giving Brisket Flat a try again... Q-View

Well, I'm certainly no expert on brisket. In fact I've only done one, but it came out so good that I am going to do another in a few days. What I did with mine was smoke it at 250 until it reached about 165, then I put it in a roasting pan with some beef broth and some dry onion soup mix...

    HOLY COW ! (Brisket, actually) - Q-View

Yep. it was my very first.   I wonder if the reason it went so fast was because I smoking at 250 while it seems like most people are smoking at 225. I also do my pork butts at 250 and seldom have very much stall if any.

    HOLY COW ! (Brisket, actually) - Q-View

This was the first brisket I've ever done. I have always been wanting to do one, but have always shy'd away from them because of all the talk about how tough they can be to get them to come out good. Well my son bought one the other day and wanted me to smoke it, so I figured since I have no...
