X2. Im extremely happy with my Yoder. The other pellet grills may work fine, but you cant go wrong with the Yoder. I've been told their customer service is excellent, but I havent had to use it, which is great by itself. Nice to know they stand behind it if you need it.
Mossymo sent me this spreadsheet when I was choosing my pellet smoker. Its a good comparison for anyone interested in making the leap, if you're interested. I was deciding betwen the Yoder, Green Mountain Jim Bowie, and the Fast eddy PC500. I ended up choosing the Yoder and it shouild be in any...
I've been around here off & on for a while and was surprised to NOT see a pellet smoker section. I just ordered my Father's day/birthday present, a Yoder YS640, and want to hear what you all have to say about pellet smoking. Im giving up on my Masterbuilt XL and looking forward to some fine Q...
Knox, Im curious too.
Im in the same boat as you were. I'm looking to step up from my Masterbuilt gasser to a quality cooking utensil and came up with the GMG Jim Bowie (made in China), FE PG500, or the Yoder YS640. Im really interested in your impressions. Tons of people rave about the Yoder...
Thanks Scarbelly for weighing in,
I'll have to check out your recipe when I get a minute. Usually I do smoke chicken at 275, but Im also doing ribs and ABTs so the smoker will be running pretty full today. Thats why Im running a lower temp in the smoker.
As for cooking the chicken skinless, Im...
Sorry, I am cooking about a dozen thighs, 6 whole breasts, all skinless along with the 3 racks of ribs on a masterbuilt XL gas smoker. I'll be using pecan wood chunks and I do have a Maverick 732 dual probe thermometer.
I know about the temps for chicken being done. Im mainly looking for a...
I am planning a cookout tomorrow for some friends from Canada. They hooked me up last year with a great fishing trip and a freezer full of halibut & salmon (not full, I wish) so I really owe them. Im doing 3 racks of pork ribs, some ABTs and Im going to do some Jerk Chicken. I dont know if any...
Well, I did a little more looking online about using Carob wood, until I got bored with the Internet jungle. Apparently it is used for smoking fish, especially Salmon in Italy. Carob trees are fairly common there, but mainly in California and Az here in the states. Its a very dense wood that...
Thanks everyone for weighing in.
Gene, what a selection of recipes to choose from. That was just what I was looking for, something that says tropical island, while not necessarily being truly authentic. Just what I need for this Az Hawaiian desert poser party. I think I'll make about 3 or 4 of...
Thanks Scarbelly & DuaneS, I read that before about jus cooking it with salt and was surprised that there wasn't more to it. I had also seen the banana leaves referenced too, although they may be hard to come by in Az. Perhaps I should rephrase this post to mean something tropical, yet not truly...
Greetings or should I say Aloha?
Its a little late to post this, but I need a good Hawaiian type of rub, finishing or bbq sauce, or marinade for smoking a Pork Butt this Saturday. We are having our annual "after the hangover" party Sat nite, and want to do a Tiki party theme. Now I've got a...
Greetings and Salutations,
I have another question about a certain type of wood and if it would be good to use in my smoker. I have a huge Carob tree that I extremely dislike. Its a nice looking tree, but puts out tons of bean pods and trashes up the yard. But at one time, the food police...
I know, and I thought about it. Not that the price is too high either, Its a great price. But thats about all that I have left that's useful out of my P.O.S. 56" Mitsubishi DLP tv set. Long story, but when Mitsubishi wouldn't stand behind a 4 year old DLP set that died because of a bad circuit...
I was right, I did say DUH and then wiped the egg off my face. Thats my default go to mix as well, but I never heard it called SPOG. Oh well, Live & learn
