    Question about multiple butts...

Sure do have a probe...may get another one today. Also, I agree cooking by temp. is the way to go...I just use the 1.5 hours as a guide to start it. I then take the advice of others on here and wrap in a towel and put it in a cooler for an hour or so...that just makes it all fall apart...

    Question about multiple butts...

Can't wait for the real football season to start...not that NFL stuff (I love football and will watch NFL, but think the competition/excitement is better in college). FSU has a revamped coaching staff, so we will soon see if Jeff Bowden was the issue or not (my guess is he was).

    Question about multiple butts...

I plan to smoke 2 Boston Butts this weekend. I've had much success with cooking them at 1.5 hours per pound. My question is, since I am doing 2 separate butts, do I still go 1.5 hours per pound for the total weight, or just the weight of one? I guess if I have to 8 pound butts, should I...

You should be OK...has it gone up yet? you should figure about 1.5 hrs per pound, so you should be coming to the end...

    fireworks store

Depending on where you are in Jacksonville, the Macclenny store may be closer...it's on I-10 just a few miles off of I-295 (I grew up in Orange Park, and my parents and in-laws are still in the area).

Do I have a good understanding (boston butt)?

WOW...thanks for the prompt replies! You guys rock! I hope it all goes well...I tried some baby back ribs the other day and they were good, but I underestimated the amount of time they would take (did 2-2-1), and they weren't quite falling apart. One other quick question, I have 4...

Do I have a good understanding (boston butt)?

Ok, so I have a 7LB Boston Butt and want to make pulled pork tomorrow. I have read and re-read many ways to smoke this. I figure it should take about 10-11 hours for it to be complete. I have the Masterbuilt smoker and plan to set the temp. to around 230-235. Should I wrap the meat in foil...

    Vacation Woooohoooo

Smithfields is great...for about $7-8, you get a plate with "BBQ" (aka Pulled Pork), 1-2 pieces of Fried chicken, hush puppies, and 2 sides. Not a lot to their menu...just pulled pork and Fried chicken!

    Vacation Woooohoooo

Very cool...if you have friends/family in Chapel Hill, they may know the place...it's a decent drive from Cary (South of Raleigh), so I don't get to Chapel Hill very often, but I know it's a famous place. Hope you enjoy the area! I've been here for 3 1/2 years and love it! I spent 3 1/2 years...

    Vacation Woooohoooo

There's quite a few places to try around here...please remember it's Eastern Carolina (Vinegar BBQ). A few places are "Olde Time BBQ", "Danny's BBQ", "Smithfields BBQ and Chicken", "Rubs Smokehouse", and "Q-Shack". There are some in Chapel Hill, but I can't remember the names of them, and I am...

Hello from the Tarheel State...(not a tarheel fan though)

Also, how do you get the "blue smoke"? Is my understanding that happens by just not putting in a lot of wood chips?

Hello from the Tarheel State...(not a tarheel fan though)

Thanks all...I'm looking forward to it...going to try and smoke some baby back ribs tomorrow using the 2-2-1 method. Quick question, the second "2", is that just heat with no smoke?

Hello from the Tarheel State...(not a tarheel fan though)

Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I live in NC and just got a new Masterbuilt electric digital smoker. Just starting out with smoking meat...look forward to learning a lot!
