Window shopping at or under $700

As my luck would have it, there's a Pitts and Spitts dealer in my local area. So I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 1250. Deposit has been made and now just waiting on shipping. I'll be sure to add some Q-View once it's all setup and smokes rollin'. Thanks for all the tips everyone!

Window shopping at or under $700

Well as luck would have it, the budget has increased. The wife started talking about buying more stuff that's made in U.S.A. and I told her that's gonna be a big increase in smoker budget. And her reply was " good I think we need to support our country more in that way". So now I've switched...

Window shopping at or under $700

I'm open to all options. I just got back to the States from Italy for the last 7 years. I built a UDS out there but had to get rid of it before the move. Now I'm thinking about something I can set and forget. The Pellet options seem to be very plentiful now a days so I was going to look into...

Window shopping at or under $700

Well I'm window shopping for a pellet smoker and looking for some input. Budget will be $700 and interested in vertical as well as horizontal. Not too particular one way or the other. I'd mainly be smoking Pork shoulders/butts, Brisket, chickens and I'd like to be able to do bacon at lower...

First Bacon and I'm waiting on cure

Ok thanks for the heads up on the pics. I had insert links from Google Photos but I guess that doesn't work so I've edited the post above and insert files for the pictures. Please let me know how that one works now. Here is the cure that I got: Today I went ahead and seasoned up the belly...

First Bacon and I'm waiting on cure

Just to update my process thus far. I was able to get some cure from the Amazon.it locally here and did the measurements and mixing from the bacon calculators. I'm not sure how it'll turn out in the end since the stuff I got isn't sold with any English directions any translatable directions...

First Bacon and I'm waiting on cure

Thanks, Pop6927 and tx smoker, I threw her in the freezer last night to get it out of the garage freezer. It's not in a vacuum pack so I was starting to get worried about it. Anyways I've got some stuff on the way now but do either of you recommend any products for curing that I can get from...

First Bacon and I'm waiting on cure

Howdy Folks, So I'm living in Italy and I just picked up a belly yesterday from the local butcher and then proceeded to look at the local grocery stores as well as restaurant supply stores for some cure salts, #1 or anything. I didn't find anything. So I ordered something on Amazon.it but it...

    First UDS is underway!

well, I got another drum from the same place. This came with another lid that didn't fit the first barrel since it's slightly different than the original drum. Anyways, I burned it out this past weekend this went off without any issues. Also, this time I didn't burn the lid, I took my time and...

    First UDS is underway!

well as it turns out I made a noob UDS mistake and warped the lid. I'm trying to get with the spot that I bought the drum from to get another drum and lid or just lid. I'll post more updates after I figure that out. But I was able to create a charcoal basket so that's good.

    First UDS is underway!

Not entirely, just a few clumps. That pic of the glue is all that was in there. It's all removed now. I've got a few pics at home I'll post them later.

    First UDS is underway!

The drum had a polyurethane hot glue of sorts. So it didn't have a liner. Just paint on the outside, bare metal inside with a bit of the left over glue. I burned the drum upside down so it would drop out. Power washed it out, then sanded it as well. Do y'all think it should be safe? I feel that...

    First UDS is underway!

Living in Italy has made it difficult in finding a drum, but I finally snagged one. I picked up all the pipe fittings in the last two weeks and started taping them off and painting them up. Then this weekend I finally picked up the drum. I torched the drum and then power washed it. In the pics...
