Chef Jimmy J:
Thank you for your post. The older model I have has the digital panel where I can set the time and temp only and it will cut off when the time is up. When I first started I often would put something on, set the time I wanted it to smoke, then was free to do other stuff or leave...

Thanks for your reply; that's a deal breaker for me. IMHO, it makes absolutely no sense, given the digital control panel and built in meat probe, for the unit not to turn off when the internal temp is met. I will just stay with my old MES 30 and use my meat probe, especially given...
Looking to up-grade my older MES 30 with the newer 20070312; I use an separate digital meat probe and the built in meat probe on this new model appealed to me. I have been unable in my research to confirm that I can set an internal temp on the control panel and the smoker cuts off when the...
I have just boned and butterflied a 9# butt and have it in the cure. I have a MES but no AMNP and thinking about the best way to smoke it when ready. I did Canadian bacon from a pork loin last and just hot smoked it to 150 internal and it turned out great. Is there a down-side to hot smoking...
Exactly what I was asking. I see A-Maze Dust at $4.49/lb and Pellets at $3.99/lb and Traeger pellets at .95/lb.
Does the Traeger pellets work as well as the A-Maze pellets?
What you guys prefer, pellets or dust?
Thanks,
Don
I notice a lot of you use the AMNPS; I am looking into getting one but wonder if there is an lower cost alternative to the pellents and dust the company sells.
Thanks,
Don
Third attempt a fail! and my theory why: I used Morton Kosher salt, a dry pan, dry chips and 275 F for 7 hrs (same batch I already smoked for 8 hrs. so it has 15 hours with no to little color) I think all you guys are using sea salt nut I am using Morton Kosher "style" salt. It is not flaked...
I now have two fails smoking salt. My first attempt was with Kroger brand Kosher salt; the Kroger brand is as fine grained as regular table salt. I used a 30" MBE smoker with soaked hickory chips but no water in the water pan. The smoke vent was set as normal for my regular smoking.. I...

Thank you for your post; that make me feel better I'm looking online at Cabelas and have been told that the black version they stock is the new type. I have several threads advising to be sure and go with the new model.
Again, thank you for your help.

Yeah, its kinda small but I have looking at a Masterbuilt until I noticed how small it was. The Grizzly is larger and less expensive by a fair amount than the Masterbuilt. It does not have the nice digital features the Masdterbuilt has.
I have used a Brinkman electric smoker for years and...
I am looking at a masterbuilt, but just read the dims. It seems really small; I am using a Brinkman electric water type smoker now it seems it would be much larger than the Masterbuilt.
Any advise from the guys that have Masterbuilts; do you find them large enough? Any other advise or comments...
Thanks guys. I called Cabelas today and spoke to customer service; I gave her the model no. of the new model off of the Masterbuilt page and they claim they have in stock the new model with improvements.
I have been lead wrong by customer service people before and are leery of ordering and the...
I have used the Brinkman for years; I have never put the wood directly on the element and wouldn't think its a good idea, if for no other reason than the mess. I soak my wood chips overnight and then put them in a 6 inch cast iron frying pan set directly on the element. I would think any heavy...
