amosis16 - you should have fun building this one. If you have any questions regarding my build, let me know and I'll do my best to help.
Not only was it fun to build, it works really well. I've used the heck out of it and although I'm still learning it's quirks, it's a smokin' machine.
If I...
The size of the fire box is very adequate. It's 1/2 the size of the smoke box. The calc says use at least 1/3 size, so it's more than enough according to that. In actuality, it works very well. The basket in my fire box holds a fair amount of fuel. Using the Minion Method, I can get about 6...
The reverse flow plate actually ended up being 3 pieces. I installed an angle iron trough leading down to a drain near the fire box. I then installed 2 large plates (front & back) and one small plate (above the fire box opening). They all angle towards the drain trough.
I know there are some...
I just found this on Craigslist under the 'free' listing. I don't know the dimensions, but it looks like there is enough pipe for a few smokers.

I've had my Big Baby smoker for almost a year now and have only used lump and wood. I use the lump to start the fire, them pretty much use wood for the rest of the smoke.
I just finished my second smoker - a mini reverse flow. So far, all I've used in it was Stubbs charcoal for heat and oak...
I recently completed my first reverse flow build and angled the plate up as it moved away from the heat box. I installed the drain near the heat box opening. The drain and the smoke flow both work fine.
Well done job with tremendous detail.
Question: without the Harleys on the back, how heavy is the tongue weight? It looks from the pictures that the cooker is forward of the axles which I would think could produce some serious tongue load.
Hey y'all - thanks again for the great compliments. If you don't have one of these yet, you've got to build one. All the same technique, just on a mini-scale.
Badfrog - I appreciate your kind words. I really enjoy the challenge of building something out of nothing. I've worked with wood and...
I don't think anyone saw the tanks in the fire, but I did have a few pucker moments when I cut into them earlier. I did all the wash/rinse stuff and filled them full of water before I made the first cut, but there is always a moment of doubt.
I had asked my kids to take a picture of me making...
Hey y'all - thanks for the great comments. It was a fun project. Took me about 5 weeks of evenings and weekends (when I had the time) to complete it.
It's nice to have the small pit for smoking small batches and save the big boy for larger amounts. It's also a little easier on fuel.
I've...
I'm not sure if this is the smallest functioning smoker ever made, but it's got to be close. The smoke box is a 10 gallon tank and the fire box is a 5 gallon tank. Here's all the pictures, from build to seasoning to it's first smoke. Let me know what you think.
It all started with a good...
Greetings from Oregon. I started a new RF build a few weeks ago. This is my first RF and I've got a few questions that I hope some of you could help answer. I've learned a ton from this site already and hope to learn more.
Here's the beginning: a 10 gal. tank for the smoke box and a 5 gal. tank...
