Believe it or not, I saw a video on another smoking site that showed how to smoke a chocolate cake!

    No Smoke!

I placed the smoker on the cooking grid as far as possible from the heat source (charcoal this time). This Char-griller is rather leaky, so I was surprised a lack of oxygen may be an issue. Maybe I can modify the Char-griller with another air intake just for the smoke generator. Thanks, Al

    No Smoke!

Thanks for your input. I'm using the smoker that uses the sawdust. I tried to open the vents more to allow more air to the smoker, but all I got was excessively high temps in the chamber & still no smoke. Good point about the lighting process, maybe I was not letting it fire up enough before...

    No Smoke!

Hi I recently purchased a smoke generator from amazenproducts. I guess it was too good to be true, hours of perfect smoke with no hassle. I'm using a char-griller with a side fire box & no mods to the smoker. My probelm is the smoke generator will not stay lit when I put it in the smoker. It...

    2 part smoke?

Happy Holidays Everyone! I'm having  a party New Year's day & have 2 smallish briskets  (5.5 lbs each) I want to smoke for the party. I don't think I'll have the time to attend to the smoker for 10-12 hours. I had a thought...what if I started them on the smoker Friday for about 5 hours or so...

    Brining ribs

Hi Everyone, Still a newbie, but I'm learning a lot from all of you and I appreciate that. I've been reading a bit about how brining improves the taste of a lot of meats, but never heard mention of anyone brining babybacks. Not a good idea? If anyone has tried it, I'd like to know how it worked...

    Mods

Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie to smoking but have had great success with what I've done so far thanks to all the tips I've picked up here. I'm using my first smoker, a Char-Grill pro smoker. While I think it's a good one, it does seem to need constant tending. What I'd really like is some input...

    Measuring meat temps

Thank you everyone, for the advice. I'm not only a newbie smoker, but cooking in general hasn't been my thing up until recently. I was just worried about getting sick from the pork being under cooked. Y'all put my mind at ease!

    Measuring meat temps

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie, so forgive my simple-sounding question please. Yesterday I did my first babybacks in my new char-griller smoker. They came out good, in spite of myself! I could not accurately measure the temp of the meat, I kept getting different temps. How do you check the temp on...
