GOSM out of stock in Walmart.com

Our local WM just sold the last of theirs for the season. I was there at the right time and place and bought a slightly damaged one for 40 bucks. (normally 128.00). Check the top shelves of the garden dept. outside, and back in the corners, you may get lucky.

    Best type of cutting/chopping block

I have an old end grain wood board I use for cooked meats. After cleaning and sanitizing, I rub it down with mineral oil and warm in the oven. End grain is easier on knife edges, and being wood it can be scraped a couple of times a year to get down to a smooth surface again. I use plastic for...

    Cutting oil drum

I helped a co-worker cut a diesel tank for a large trailer mount cooker. We used cutoff wheels on a 4" grinder,..worked good but went through several wheels. Don't cut it all at once,..leave it attached in a few places until you have the major perimeter cut. If you don't it becomes very...

    smoked tater skins

Something else you gotta try with a smoked tater. Smoke plenty so you have leftovers ( I rub mine down with oil, then course garlic salt) Cool them, slice into wedges, and deep fry. Makes some of the best steak fries you ever had. Ya know, I've been on this forum less than a month, and I've...

The $128 GOSM @ Wmart, how much will it hold?

I found out that Walmart will dicker on seasonal/damaged items. I just bought a $128 GOMS with a small ding in a corner for $40 bucks. They had it marked 80, and came done to 60 when I asked about it. I offered 40, and they took it!!

    Need HELP! Smoker question

Hi Jeff, welcome I installed a 240V 2400 watt element in my homemade smoker that measures 48 X 36 X 18. 3/16 steel walls with no insulation. I use it for backup heat, so I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to ad more coals. With every thing already preheated it will maintain 220...

    Saving beef drippings

Fantastic idea, I just gotta go buy some ice trays now. I don't think my wife would want a bouillon dispenser in the door of her fridge.

    Saving beef drippings

After ladling off most of the fat, I have a full quart mason jar of good drippings. I used my food saver to pull a vacuum, and seal it, and then stored it in the fridge. How long will it keep like that?...Is there a better way?...Freezing? thanks

    Thanksgiving day ham?

I start with a precooked, and cook it some more. Pump it full of Apple juice, or Pineapple juice,..wrap it up in foil, and cook it loow, and sloow. Just under 212 degrees for 24 hours, over Mulberry wood. Sliced up for dinner, and leftovers (if there is any) get pulled for sammys later.
