I LOVE the Smokenator!! It is an awesome addition to the Weber grill, and the price is right around $50.00. I can keep my temps right around 225 for the duration and only have to put more charcoal in every few hours. BTW, I only use Wicked Good Briquettes... they burn a longggg time with...
I let it go to 145 and it had to rest for an hour until my daughter got here. It was done just a hair more than I wanted (I'm blaming that one on my daughter). Next time I'll go to 135 and let it rest.
Here's the finished product... the prime rib was awesome with the horseradish cream sauce!! The fatty was EXTRAORDINARY!!! I actually liked the $4.00 fatty more than the $75.00 prime rib!
Here's some pics of my 7 lb. prime rib and fatty that I'm cooking up today on the 22" Weber with the Smokenator 1000. The fatty has sauteed vidalias, red peppers, poblanos, taco cheese, along with a sprinkling of Penzey's Southwest spice and wrapped in bacon:-)!!
THanks for the reply Dan! I was gonna put the rub on and wrap it overnight but I read in the Weber cookbook that it should only be on for a couple of hours before cooking?? What do you think??
I bought a 7 pound boneless prime rib roast that I want to smoke on Sunday, problem is my daughter and her husband are coming at 4:30PM and I have no idea how long it will take to cook! I have been checking out recipes on ALOT of websites and I have found from 2 1/2 hours to 7 hours???? I use...
I'll make this short and sweet... the Smokenator is well worth the money!! It's awesome that I can take the perfect grill and turn it into an awesome smoker for $50.00!! The Smokenator works really well, you won't be sorry.
OK, here's the finished product!! It was great although I did put the beans in the oven, after a couple of hours smoking, at 400 for an hour and then put them back on the smoker for the last hour as I didn't cook the vegetables first...oops!! They did turn out great as did the meatloaf!!!
Just put the food on the smoker... meatloaf and Dutch's baked beans!! I kinda screwed up the beans cuz I didn't cook the onions and peppers first. Oh well, I'm sure after 3 or 4 hours smoking, they shoud be good! I'll let ya know how it comes out in 4 hours or so!!
I bought this 5 pound pork shoulder today for 99 cents/lb. and figured I'd give it a shot. I used brown sugar, paprika, cumin, kosher salt, and pepper for a rub. I used my Weber with the Smokenator 1000 (I'm really loving this thing!!) and cooked it for 7 hours and it turned out GREAT!!! I...
Finally I'm back!! Thanks to Verizon I had no internet from my last post 'til now!!!
The ribs and the beef turned out GREAT! I pulled the ribs at 6 hours (didn't take the temp) and the beef roast at 145 degrees. Jeff's BBQ sauce was served with the meat and everyone loved it. I also made...
