The thing on the left is a crane to lift the stainless spit, and cage in and out with a whole hog in it the electric control box is out of the pic on the left mounted on the red steel. You can see the counter weight on the back of the lid. It makes the lid really easy to handle. The box in the foreground is also stainless, and made to hold the whole hog on ice, and then after its cooked. It's sitting on the catwalk that make access to the inside easy. The spit is driven by a high torque, variable speed DC motor on a gear reduction.
