Can anyone here tell me the estimated volume of 10 pounds of ground pork? I cannot seem to find the answer on this site nor the World Wide Web.

Seriously though my Google Fu has failed me. Any help appreciated as always.

P.S. I am looking to buy a dedicated grind container.

A pound of sausage is about 2 cups, give or take 5 or 10%.
So, 10 pounds is 20 cups, 1.25 gallons, give or take.
A gallon and a half container should be enough.

Great! Thanks! I saw that somewhere on the web but the answer was not clear that it was for ground meats.

Now to hunt for some buckets. Is there something available on a local level that many people use, or like? I saw the ones that sausagemaker has, and I like them, but shipping all that air is expensive.

If you have a nearby Sams club, go to where they have the supply stuff, bar towels, knife sets (white handles) cutting boards. Rubbermaid has food grade containers that hold 5-7 lbs of meat, yellow snap on lids.. 2 for like $14.99

Hi Redwood, several months back my wife was buying ice cream in 2 gallon plastic buckets.

I have saved them and i use them for all kinds of things in my meat processing and smoking. From grinder catch buckets to brining buckets, and have even used one filled 3/4 full of water with the lid on it to keep my bacon submerged in my larger 5 gallon brining bucket.

They are food grade, the lids fit nice and tight, I even keep some of my pellets in some of them so I don't have to always heft a 20 pound bag of pellets to fill my amnps.

Just a few ideas here; Rich-

This is something I sometimes forget. We live in the land of plenty, and can re-purpose so many items that would otherwise be tossed.

Thanks for the reminder.
