Hey guys, I was at my local DIY store tonight, and as always I wander through the grill and outdoor section.  When I stumble across a 100% CERAMIC BGE clone...the actual name stamped on the wooden handle is "Avacado Kamado"  it is identical in everyway to a BGE.

Here's a couple photos, and the price seems like a STEAL to me..any thoughts????

Check it very good for hairline cracks. When i worked at Cabelas we got these back with small cracks that turned into big cracks.

I looked it all over..and didn't see any cracks...plus they have more of them, still brand new in the boxes...all the same price, this is just the display model.

That looks like it would be a great deal at that price

We have those to at our DIY Menards. I can't remember if that is the the one that seems heavy duty? One they have feels light weight and flimsy. I would lift the cover on the BGE then lift the cover on that one. If it doesn't feel as heavy then it's made cheaper. The extra large BGE weights 205lbs.

steamaway...yep it is everybit as heavy as the BGE.  In fact the lid has these little "spring loaded" jobs that cushion the lids closing...because it's so heavy.  I don't see any differences between this unit and the LBGE...other than the rolling stand on this one seems a bit lighter weight..but I don't think that's really a big deal, it still is plenty of support.

And yes, they have two different styles of "keg" cookers..one is red, and then this one..this green one is all ceramic and very heavy duty..the red on "looks" like a ceramic cooker, but is made out of all sheet metal.

Nice. Looks exactly like a BGE. Maybe they can help drive the price down on the BGE's. I think it's just ridiculous how expensive they are.
The BGE is a high quality product...

The home office is in Atlanta...Used to be in a little shopping center right around the corner from my house.

The knock offs aren't made of the same material...ya get what ya pay for.

Kamodo/Komodo searches show some of the different brands and some of the problems.

The one shown here may be a great unit. 389 isnt cheap. Time will tell.

I have cranked my BGE to 700 degrees many times in the last 5 years to cook steaks.

It quakes at that temp..pretty amazing.

Mine is a medium and I gave up trying to smoke with it...too hard to manage..

What issues are you having when trying to smoke with yours? I used my buddies medium egg for a summer and I did like it but it was way to small and for the price of an egg I can build many many UDS's and personally I would much rather smoke on my UDS.

Mainly temp control...225 was never steady..and putting in chips required lifting the grate and spending much time with the lid off.

The WSM with the Guru is a dream to operate compared.

I did get the BGE adaptor for the guru..haven't tried it yet.

They sell this knock off at the academy outdoor store around here.  I am guessing it will work just fine.  I am also guessing if something goes wrong customer service might not be the same a s a BGE.  I don't own an egg and can't afford one but would love to give this a test run.
