Well Gentlemen, this newbie with her new Bradley did manage to smoke a turkey breast on my first try.  Did discover cold spots, how to minimize smoke in my face, and the inconvenience of not having tools and supplies handy.  The skin was a bit rubbery (tough). Is this normal?

Yes rubbery skin is normal. You can smoke at 300-325 and the skin will get crispy. Or you can stick it in a 400 degree oven for a 1/2 hour when it's at about 150 degrees to finish it up, that will crisp up the skin too. Or you can do the healthy thing and not eat the skin.

Hi Bertalouise!

Yes rubbery skin it typical in electric smokers

Al, has a great suggestion, but i don;t think your Bradley will get to 300°+

You could fire up the grill and sear the skin, or jut live with it

Thank you, Al and Todd.  As I have several son-in-laws who are traditional meat n tater men, and I like to keep the family happy, I'll try finishing the turkey at a higher temp by transferring it to an oven.  I do believe you are right, Todd. The Bradley may get to 300 on a sunny day.  I'm learning just not fast enough.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving surrounded by friends, family and smoked goodies.  Bert

Ditto with Todd

Your Bradley will only get to 250-280. I have 4 of them.
