Sometimes I wonder just where it is we come from as Marines. Your son has a long and hard row to hoe, but if he stays positive and keeps himself motivated, then he will do well. He has alot to learn and alot to earn, but the satisfaction of completing the goals are more than words can describe.. I bid him well..

In my many years in the Military, first with the US Navy and then later with the US Air Force, it has been my pleasure to work with, and for a very proud organization.  These gentle men and women took their jobs seriously but knew how to play as well.  There is and always will be the sometimes not too gentle military rivilary and that is as it should be, but when bullets start flying, I know who I can count on to be ready to step out shoulder to shoulder to face whatever threat was there.  I remember on one occasion sharing drinks with a full bull Marine Colonel who was fond of saying that when it's a fine day to die, it wasn't him that planned on doing the dying.  I knew full well what he was saying.  That was over 20 years ago now.  I heard he got his stars and he deserved them.  A salute to one and all and a special one to my stepfather, who proudly served as a US Marine in WWII, Pacific Theater.  Happy Birthday Devil Dogs.

Hats off to your stepfather NWDave. WWII Pacific Theatre was some hardcore stuff. I spent my first duty station in Okinawa and met several WWII vets there who shared some amazing stories.  That era of Americans truly is the greatest generation. I hope he has had the pleasure to see the WWII memorial in D.C... Its truly spectacular. SEMPER FI

Congratulations on the addition to the family!  toes and 10 fingers I hope.

I had my son read allof the posts here on this forum so he really understands how men feel about themselves, our country, and their families! He agrees with everthing that has been said here on the forum. I am very proud of him...
