YES!!  I am now the proud owner of a brand spanking new MES 40!!  And all I had to do was take my two boys, Jackson (3 and a half) and Jonathan (19 months) with me to Sams!!  Of course it took 4 times as long with those two rascals, but it was sooooooo worth it!  I can't wait to get to smoking.  I got it put together tonight, will be calling masterbuilt in the morning to get on the list for a retro fit chip box (I believe Al said they were on backorder), will be seasoning it tomorrow night and smoking by Wednesday or Thursday!!!!   The hole that was left when I sold my old smoker has finally been filled.  I am a very happy man!!    (oh and getting an AMNPS Soon!)

Thanks guys!  The boys are pretty excited, but I'm not sure if it is because of the smoker or the fact that it is so bright and shiny!!

Bear,

You should have seen it this morning. I put the smoker together after they went to bed last night, but it was still in the living room this morning. Jon Jon, my youngest, comes out of his bedroom had walks right up to it, points and says "THAT!" Which is what he says when he doesn't know what something is. I told him it was a smoker. He held both his hands up to it like it was christ itself and said in an amazed voice "MOKER!" I think we have a new generation of forum member on the way!

Congrats on your new toy!!!

First thing you need to do is cover the water pan and lower drip with foil

Makes your MES much easier to clean

ENJOY!!!

I also have the 40.dont bother putting the drip pan in the back because you never have that much drippings due to the large water pan. However use that drip pan under the front door because it will leak.Had this prob.with my 30 and now the 40 even with adjusting the front door.If you feel that a pan is needed in the back of the unit just place a small aluminum dish. And remember do not and I repeat do not clean the interior of your smoker. Its ok to clean the racks and place foil in the water pan and the drip pan under the chip tray. Good luck and the larger chip pan will make a difference.

I can hardly wait to get home so I can season the smoker. Why do I have to work? Oh yeah to buy things to smoke!

The great thing about that unit is the outer cabinet does not get hot enough to burn little hands. They don't have to be kept away from the MES like they would coal or stick burner.

The only part that gets hot is the chip chute.

Eman,

As you can imagine that was a big reason I went with this smoker! I love my little helpers, but keeping them safe tires me out more than doing the smoking!
